Ridiculous lag in landscape mode

Few issues...
1) how do I disabled the autopopup in landscape mode?
2) Is there any specific reason why my device seems so much slower when trying to do anything in landscape mode?
I bought the TP for its hardware keyboard, and now I find myself barely using it because landscape mode is so buggy/laggy!!
