Re: Video Cable on Ebay

just cut the blue wire in the dongle that came with the phone. and yes, i bought ipod cables at a dollar store, for a dollar... i mean seriously... the phone puts out 640x480, its not exactly high quality video that we're outputting. i've actually used high quality cables, and there's absolutely no difference.

Re: Video Cable on Ebay

My this thread has taken on a nasty tone. I bought the one on Ebay after ruining an audio adapter while trying to modify it. I just thought that people might be interested how well the Ebay one works.

No problem if you're being genuine, and not the tool that came here, learned how to do it -and then tried to sell his work based on other people's freely given ideas.

The EBAY one is going to work just as well as the one everyone else made. Because if you look in the picture, it's the same jury-rigged cable that everyone else made out of the stock adapter that came with the phone. Were you unaware of that?

Re: Video Cable on Ebay

I have a feeling that he is in the process of making it since when I emailed him he indicated it would take a few days for delivery. If you look at the cables on Ebay, they are all variations of the instructions in this forum. At least this guy apparently is using the original Pro adapter and has both USB charging ability and two video or audio output ports. Not sure of the usefulness of the latter, but they are there because of the use of the Pro adapter. If he does a nice job, it might be worth somewhat of a premium, the question is how much.

Re: Video Cable on Ebay

I cut the blue wire and added a 3.5 to video cable. The image quality is horrible.

I went to a Sprint store and told them I lost my multimedia adapter thing and they gave me one out of a box from a display model. They say they throw them away all the time! I might tell them just to collect them and then give them to me at the end of the week and sell them on ebay like this guy's doing. And I'll do it cheaper than this guy too and undermine his business lol.

I went the DIY route because expansys said my ACT110 won't be in until jan 5th. I'm still going to let them deliver it to me, but if it's the same exact image quality I'll just tell them I want a refund and i'll return it.

Re: Video Cable on Ebay

I received the cable. The guy did a very nice job. It even includes a wheel (switch) that allows you to switch between video and phone/audio functions. Video display is good for sites like YouTube, etc. Slingbox quality is not as good but this seems to be more a current issue with Slingbox and the Pro.

Try the latest version of Sling Mobile. I didn't install it for a while when I saw that it didn't support 640x480 & figured it wouldn't be any different than the previous version, but when I finally did install it it increased my frame rate considerably. I have my SBM setup hooked to the 7" NAV screen in my truck & this improved the video quality quite a bit (it was horrible before)

Re: Video Cable on Ebay

By the way, I have the expansys cable. I bought it before I saw the DIY mod on the forum. I have since made one myself & that worked fine, but it is kind of a PITA mod & I see absolutely nothing wrong with that guy selling them on ebay (& I sure don't get the negativity in this thread, why would anybody ridicule a poster for buying a part on ebay??)

Re: Video Cable on Ebay

At those prices, going the ebay DIY route makes little sense ...
