Best GPS Mapping Software

I got the TP today at Best Buy. I tried using the Sprint Nagativation today for the first time. I love the idea it pulls traffic and reroutes you but I don't think it's worth $10 a month for the service. Anyone care to suggest a software to install that I can use the GPS for free?

Sorry I am coming from the 6700 so I never had GPS built into the phone.

Re: Best GPS Mapping Software

Google Maps and Live Search are both free, and work great with your GPS

Re: Best GPS Mapping Software

yea, live search and google maps are gonna be the only free ones really.

you could get one of the apps that has a one time fee, like TomTom or Garmin XT.

Out of those there is alot of topics on, just not in the Raphael section, just search for best gps software or something to that effect.

I got it to work this way:

In Google Maps select the Options menu, then GPS Setting. Change the options to "Set Manually" and then use the first drop down menu to select COM4.

The port that you select should match the COM port that shows in the settings for "External GPS" in the "System" tab in the settings panel.

Now back to the menu, select "Use GPS" and it works for me.

Boo Boo, on your TP, did you open up Opera and go to http://m.google.com and install MAPS from there? You should be able to download and install the cab file that way. Then, it should work.

At first, it defaults to San Francisco and then you use GPS from the pop-up menu and voila!

HTH,

Re: Best GPS Mapping Software

I use Garmin Mobile XT and I love it. One thing I really like about it is the frequent updates they post on their site. Sometimes it makes it feel like a totally different program (in a good way). And they are FREE updates.
