Re: Total Equipment Protection

I don't have TEP, I have ESRP (equipment service and repair program). ESRP costs $4 a month and covers almost everything the TEP covers minus if the phone gets lost, stolen, or water damaged. I've been through 3 Treos using the ESRP program to fix a bad charging port.

From Sprint's site:
"Provides coverage for mechanical or electrical failure, routine maintenance or failure from normal wear and tear."

So in theory, if anything goes wrong with my phone, I may be able to get a replacement. One possible use of ESRP (although I don't condone it, but Sprint does leave this open) is to get new phones. For example, you've got a Touch and want a Diamond or Touch Pro. Knowing that the Touch isn't carried by the store, you break the charging port, take it in for a replacement, and since they don't have anymore Touchs, they have to give you something to compensate.

One of the great things about having TEP is they really don't ask too many questions when you have issues. (generally, not always) It really gives you some leverage when contacting support for possible hardware issues.

Just my opinion....

I never used to with my previous Sprint phone, but there are just too many risks and things that can go wrong to not have it for my TP, which is a hella expensive device. So just under the 30 day limit, I signed up. I doubt I'll miss that $7/month but I'll sure appreciate it if I need to use it!

Right worth having if u have a windows phone. Never had to buy any new ppc since 6700. Once they discontinue ur phone u get the next one up for no charge. I went from 6700 to Mogal to Touch to Touch Diamond:headbang::headbang::headbang:

It should not matter what you have on the phone as long as you give them the old one. My advise is make nice with a rep in the store and use that same person all the time. Any phone that is returned is given a master reset before they send it back to the maker anyway. So regardless when its sent back the phone is in OEM specs.

They also won't let you add it to a phone after 30 days, so those who are thinking about it, you better hurry.

I bought mine through Ebay, activated it, and then sent customer service an email saying that I had just activated my new phone, but the website wouldn't let me add the TEP and they put it on my plan without question right away.
