What should I do?

Hi, I'm currently rocking a RAZR V3m on Verizon (flashed with original firmware of course) and we're due for an upgrade at the end of May 09. I'm really looking at the Touch Pro ATM, though I've read all of the horror stories about the xv6850 being gimped and sucking in numerous ways. So, if I were to get one, it'd probably be the Sprint version....
1) Is it worth it to get the Sprint one over the xv6850? I'd probably be getting the new every two discount (we're on a family plan and I don't pay the bill) so it might be cheaper but still better to get the sprint model.
2) How would I go about the activation process? Would it be any different since we don't have any smartphones or data plans on our account? Would I have to get another smart phone beforehand to activate the Touch Pro? And would Verizon have any trouble activating a phone not in their database?
3) should I just wait and see what new phones come out in 6 months?
I read the thread about making the Sprint phone work on Verizon and I have the QPST experience from flashing my RAZR. Seems like everything should be simple though I don't know whether CS will be an obstacle or not.
Thanks, looking forward to hearing from you guys.
