TP Delayed Release to Stores?

I'm new here and so far this site rocks!

Anyway... I am stuck with Verizon and with all the bad reviews of the Touch Pro I want to try it before I buy it. Supposedly it was supposed to be in stores Dec. 1 but it wasn't. I have called customer service and they tell me it is in stores and when I call the stores they say it's not in yet. Any one have any idea why that would be???

PS I am slowly picking up on all the lingo but is there some place I can go to read a beginners guide to ROMs, Flashing, Hard-SPL and things like that?
