Re: Use light sensor to turn screen off while on call

well, wouldnt the pressing the end thing with your cheek be kinda funky, i mean i dont think you'll apply the kind of pressure you need to press the button is the same kind of pressure you'll put up against your face.

but then again, i've held it away many times from my face in fear that i'll press the end call button.

we could just start a trend of ending our calls my slamming the phone into the side of our cheeks. should catch on really well. =P

Where is this "Enable Fast Dormant Display" key?

EDIT: Nevermind I found it:

It didn't work though. I didn't even have the key there but putting it there and soft-resetting still didn't work.

Re: Use light sensor to turn screen off while on call

It's actually very annoying that this DOESNT work on my stock sprint Touch Pro properly!! It's actually pretty pathctic that we are forced as a community to fix the screw-ups of our providers. It's pretty sad!
Can't they just let the manufacturer of the phone make the software and hardware and just spend more time on working on their network making it more faster and reliable?
That would make too much sense..

So the tech at my Sprint store got this email back from HTC:

Sounds like a load of bull to me. And who can be without their phone for 3 weeks!

I'm also on the sprint rom and really wish it would be nice to have this feature. even if the screen turned off on a timer it would be nicer than nothing. i've had my check dial other numbers while on the phone...

Re: Use light sensor to turn screen off while on call

How can I make the backlight stay on or dim when I am in a call? I tried having the call guard off, but the backlight still turns off. I hate having to press the power button to see the screen. Any ideas?

I would like to keep the backlight level auto adjusted and keep the backlight on only when I am on a call.

Thanks

Re: Use light sensor to turn screen off while on call

Well, the TP only has a light sensor, not a proximity sensor. That would be the first problem I could think of using the light sensor to turn off and on the phone b/c in very lighted or very dark situations, It would be hard to detect your face just using light.

works for me with default dialer, I made some sort of reg edit, could be pocket shield, could be a lot of things, I really modded the hell out of my device, not intending tests.

Re: Use light sensor to turn screen off while on call

maybe this has been said and this apears to be an old thread. i hear the tp2 does it but with a proximity sensor of some kind. i use s2u2 on my tp and mogul and set "blank screen on talk" you can get this program free and use one or more features of it. (many cool features for just a locker.)
