You have to tweak it to get it going...
I had the same issues you guys all had but got running pretty smooth now. First I hard reset. I tried with and without customizations and the results were the same. I opened file manager and deleted everyting int he start up. Next I disabled The Large Start Menu and The Large Titel Bar options in the TouchFLow settings menuu. I used a program called memmaid, but there are numerous free ware ones like it, to disable those same services at boot time. The mem maid step is not nescasary but I also you the app to clear my start menu history every boot as well just for asthetics.
After that I downloaded a program called TouchFlow Customizer and a couple new themes. the VZW is just horrible. With a new theme installed I diabled the internet, pictures, People Tab. Doing so I boot with about 50% free or 50 megs or so of ram. If I disable touchflow alltogether this will net about 62 megs free. The machine is flying then. There is also another tweak that I added to make the touchflow more sensitive and that alone makes it feel alot less laggy. I think some of the lag we see is from the settings of the interface. Try this cab and shut down the otpions I noted above and tell me what you think. I am very happy with mine. I was pretty upset with mine after comparing it to my Vogue with a super fast custom ROM I created. That thing was stupuid fast. But after applying these tweaks and playing with another app called Advanced config I am very satisfied with this purchase (especially for the $70.00 I paid ;c) EDIT: Here is where I found most of the links. I havent tried the manual reg edits yet, just the cabbed up stuff. Also remember this thing takes a while to boot. I got frustrated early on because I was trying to use the touchflow to early. Different "timing" than on my Vouge and Titan http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=42730 Last edited by scrosler; 11-27-2008 at 07:29 AM. |

Re: Very disappointed thus far w/ the TP for VZW
...and this is what furiates me about Verizon and why I am just about ready to scream at them. They take a da*n good phone like this, gimp the memory, charge us an extra 50 bucks, then we have to remove everything on it so that it will run. I wish I had the CIO's address of VZW, I would seriously write him a complaint letter right now. Mine is going back.

Second, I performed a hard reset this morning, and now the friggin' thing won't get on the Internent. The credentials weren't in the connection settings, so I plugged them in, and still nothing. It says it cannot connect due to an unknown error. I cannot WAIT for a ROM for this thing. I was looking at the Omnia online last night and was thinking about switching until I realized it's not VGA. I love this phone, but it needs work. On a side note, before the hard reset, I had peformed the tweaks you suggested and they did work. The tweaks with Advanced Config, and the HTC Diamond Touchflo customizer are great. |

Re: Very disappointed thus far w/ the TP for VZW
yeah VZ really fugged that thing...Id go with the omnia, Im actually jealous of it...3.2 inch screen(not vga), 8 gigs of internal storage, AND A MEM CARD SLOT!
5M autofocus camera, superfast processor, optical trackball thingy, and if you search youtube, someone got TF3D working PERFECTLY on it. |

Re: Very disappointed thus far w/ the TP for VZW
I figured out how to get past the customizations. So that's fixed. And, I figured out why it wasn't getting online. I'm coming from an Apache. And with each hard reset, I wasn't required to re-activate the phone. I had to perform the whole *228 deal. SO. Now I have an un-customized phone. Let's see what I can get it to do.

Re: Very disappointed thus far w/ the TP for VZW
So switch to a company that's going downhill and has bunk customer service over a crippled phone? Or stay with a company that likes to cripple a phone. I like the other people had the same problem with my TP took it back and got my money back keep in mind i paid full price for it not being eligible for a upgrade. I have had sprint 3 times now with problems every time if not with billing trying to get them to help you out is impossible and would never go back, Plus a get a mighty nice discount for the company i work for. I will stick with the crippled company that's growing and hope someday they learn to pull there heads out and do what the customer wants.
