Ummm, on your KB, press the Green FN key, and the Spacebar that has T9 in green... Select T9 settings...

I found that menu before but didn't think that it made a difference to this issue. What do you do, just uncheck everything? I guess I can do that since I don't like and don't use T9 anyway.

I honestly will wait a good 20 seconds for the input to catch up if I've composed a nice long two-parter text.
Damn....wish I had your typing skills...I notice a slight lag but by the time I look at the screen to see if what I typed is really what I typed, it's caught up. I heard custom roms help cure this issue but honestly, as long as it does catch up, who cares. If you are typing that fast it's not very relevant that it keeps up. Your not paying any attention anyway.

If you text alot and it lags try clearing your text messaging folder. The more text messages the more the lag. I had this same problem on my mogul. So now everytime my text message folder starts filling up I just clear it out. No more lag. B/c of the threaded text messages it will probably look like you have a lot less texts then u really do because each text is a conversation not a separate text. Hope this helps. Can't take credit for this information. I was helped myself.

Re: typing speeds vs screen delay

I test my typing speeds a lot... Using www.iphonetypingtest.com, i can type 45 WPM with no punctuation and about 35 WPM with punctuation... So the lag is SOOOOOO bad... As nerdtalker said, 20++ seconds before it catches up... It makes no sense since it get all the text, so its definatly spell checking it or something, its running thru something first before displaying...

Re: typing speeds vs screen delay

The delay IS due to the amount of text messages you have in your text data base... delete them and try, it will be back to normal...

Re: typing speeds vs screen delay

Is there a way that you can turn of T9 in landscape mode...that creates so much lag when im typing using the keyboard. I end up having to manually turn it off while im trying to write a text.

Re: typing speeds vs screen delay

Try this. Use a registry editor to navigate to the following:

HKEYCurrentUser\ControlPanel\Keybd

Change the "InitialDelay" key to 50 (default 250).

See how much that helps!

Re: typing speeds vs screen delay

Initial delay is set to 375 on my TP by default. I'll let you guys know if there is a speed increase.
