Is it still crippled? I thought the whole reason they delayed their launch was that they decided it probably wasn't such a good idea to cripple HTC's flagship phone just for the sake of doing so.
Verizon's arrogance will be its ultimate undoing. Honestly. As soon as people figure out that Sprint's network is just as good, and can roam on it and Alltel (soon to be Verizon), game's up.

The phone has 192MB RAM

It's about time - I've been hanging on to a dying 6800 for weeks now. It is physically broken. Hopefully it will last long enough for Asurion to run out of xv6800's.
