Re: A little tough Love about battery issues.

I have found that if the phone stays on while charging. The battery will top to 100% and will seem to last longer. It seems like that last 10% does not charge well if the phone goes to sleep.

I charge mine while it's asleep... if there's time permitting, once i notice the charge light is full.. i unplug the usb and plug it back in and it starts showing the recharging ring again. Seems like this might top off the battery too.

Maybe you two can comment on this:

I wonder, does anyone have the HD ROM/Radio decomplied/dumped, yet? Take a look at these specs:

Stand-by Up to 450 h
Talk time Up to 6 h 30 min

Maybe they fixed the issue in this device? This device is using the exact same chipset, and the display is larger. Even though the device is without the keyboard, it is obviously not connected, since some people can reproduce an issue without using their phone.

I'd suggest taking a look in that Radio, and ROM, and see what differences there are, set aside from the newer build of TouchFlo3D, and the drivers and Windows Mobile files being for WVGA.

Sure I will comment:

I want one of those!

Also if you look at the specs for the same ROM and radio Touch Pro GSM device its listed as 8 hours of talk time so I don't think this is a fair comparison

Re: A little tough Love about battery issues.

Part of the problem is also CDMA. They were able to sell the GSM version of the Diamond with a 900mah battery, but when they made a CDMA version they had to up the battery to 1340mah with little to no improvement in battery life.

This issue could be a huge drawback to Sprint/Verizon going forward. As smartphones and 3G networks become more common place it's becoming obvious that battery life is going to be the biggest limiting factors of these devices. The idea that the average consumer just has to buck up and learn to purchase and carry around 2 or 3 expensive batteries with them is absurd. We are on our way to smartphones becoming mainstream consumer devices largely thanks to the iPhone, a device so mainstream they don't even let you access the battery.

The other part of the problem is that the race to be the sleekest phone on the market has come at the expense of battery size. 3 years ago I purchased a Treo 700p that came with an 1800mah battery and was only a few millimeters thicker than the Touch Pro. The Palm Treo could last 24 hours easily. Now I'm lucky if I can go 4 hours with the Touch Pro without needing to plug in my phone.

Re: A little tough Love about battery issues.

It's like D5 said, it's a GSM phone and the hardware itself is too different, so it's not a valid comarison.

Yah I cheated, I was still trying to find a web site with favorable comparisons to prove my point

Still, even though they are two different technologies, I still don't think that it would be un-wise to dig through the Radio and ROM and see if they can reveal anything.
