Removing Sprint Software

I'm actually pretty happy with the sprint tabs on the interface as well as the sprint skin. What I'd like to remove is the stupid sprint software that is installed by default on the phone (things like the software store and pocket express). Anyone have any idea how to do this without using a custom ROM?

I think that would work, except that I want some of the software installed like Sprint TV... and I can't figure out how to unlock the ext rom to pull the cab files off of it.

the cabs are located in \Windows, and there's also a link to a ZIP file with all the stock cabs floating around here.

You'll probably find that it won't let you abort the customizations like it used to on the Mogul or Touch. If that's the case, you'll skip them and it will just trigger a hard reset again on the next boot.

You can see the link in my signature for a viable workaround if you want to keep the Sprint stuff in tact but still want to do a little housecleaning.

I just change the properties and select hidden to hide them from showing up on the start menu. I have a lot of space left, so it doesn't bother me (yet), so I still have them there.

Why not put on a different ROM? With the higher memory settings, the custom ROMs completely change the experience. I was hesitant, but now am a flasher!

Just get the $7 Sprint insurance just in case!

Because some of us have to use the stock ROM (for various reasons), some of us just prefer the (relative) dependability of a stock ROM but still want to be able to customize the experience, and well the most obvious reason-- some people just aren't ready to embrace all the time and geekiness of cooking.

I fit the first category-- I have to support people who aren't technical and have the stock ROM, so I keep the stock ROM and tweak the hell out of it until I'm certain I can give the best experiences possible... regardless of what those experiences need to be. :)
