Touch pro soon?????
 

Ok everyone, I have been stalking the touch pro for Alltel since it was launched over seas back in July or so. W0die nailed the date of the diamond and has given us a date for the pro of November 13th. It is now 4 days to go and the info bin has gone empty. W0rdie don't think I am doubting you but I can't believe there is no talk about it anywhere on line, no early pictures, no unboxing, no anything. Can any inside person (including w0rdie) give us an update on if that date is still accurate? Plaese, please, please!!! The anticipation is killing me!!!!!:violent2:

Well now I know that you don't cruz the forums enough, As I am an Alltel user as well as Mr.Obvious, Think Conflipper is, so is LennySH. There are alot of us out here.

Just talked to ALLtel tech today who informed me that Verizon is taking them over real soon. So, I would expect to see the Touch Pro at around that same time, with Verizon's name probably. Then there will be lots of (old Alltel ) customers here. Just what I heard anyway.

+1 OMG I'm crawling out of my skin in anticipation and frustration on not getting confirmation...I saw a 20th dropped somewhere recently and my heart nearlly stopped...I got the diamond on The 30th but miss my keyboard and really want a flash on my camera....Pity that some threads say that FM Radio is not possible tho...C'mon w0rdie or someone....I posted a PM to w0rdie with no return last week...I know he's busy on Roms and stuff which we all will need so cant flame him for that...but i need INFO soon to save my ticker:protest:

I stopped at the Alltel store on Sunday and they said they don't know IF they are getting it let alone when. Doesn't Alltel realize that it really makes thier sales team look ignorant when they say I don't know and a few days later it shows up on the shelf and for sale? It's not a secret military weapon, it's a flipin phone!!!!

Every company is like this with product launches... they make it sound like they're the only one to have THIS magical, end-all-be-all product and you HAVE to buy it through them or else go somewhere and buy something not-so-magical.

Yeah, it looks like the page isn't "quite there" yet but is hopefully a positive sign. I'm surprised it's up at all, but I found it by going through Partners->Alltel->Touch Pro. It's not on the main US page.

Yeah I couldn't wait that long either... so I switched to Sprint! haha. Lower monthly bill and I got the 20% off at Best Buy so the phone was only $240.

You're gonna love the Pro! It pretty much kicks arse.

According to the link in one of the previous posts, the alltel version won't have a flash for the camera. Does any body know anything about that?

look close at the page. The Sprint phone is poorly photoshoped, and if you look to the right of the page doesn't that Touch Pro have what looks like a Alltel branding on it? It's small i know, but doesn't that look almost identical to the Alltel seal. It's either that or AT&T's brand seal. But it just looks like Alltel.

If you're talking about the link I posted, it doesn't even list GPS. Hopefully the page is under development and not representative of the specs. :scratch:

I have been looking for a page like this forever, and finally one showed up! I'm with Alltel too, and I've been anxiously awaiting this phone (I've been checking this forum literally everyday).

I hope the TP will come out on the 13th... or at least before Christmas...

I want this phone last week already...and My 30 days is up on the 30th of this month...if it comes out in December you better watch your yard for land mines and booby traps, cuz i will blame you mr Oxymoron238, "if thats really your name", for jinxing the 13th or 20th named in this post...LOL

Just heard from a tech that the pro was pushed back but NOT canceled. He had no more info than that. The best we can do now is hope for the 20th.:disgust:

I've been with Alltel a long time (from GTE Wireless) but never noticed if they have Black Friday sales. I'm curious because I'm just a few months into a contract.

Yeah, I saw yours and at least one set of others before, which is why the pic on the HTC site was so surprising to me. Probably (hopefully) just a bad mockup on HTC.

OK, got a question for everyone. I recently purchased the 6800 back on 10/25 and now want to upgrade to the TP. So, that give me to the 24th to be within my 30 day exchange. But, what happens if the TP doesn't come out by then ?? Can I completely cancel my service/contract (I can get a loaner cell phone from work) and then resign up when it is released ??

I really don't think they'll wait that long though. It just wouldn't make sense!

So I officially revoke my jinx- It'll come no later than the 20th if not on the 13th. :D

OMG i miss my dorm days...live it and embrace it..man i wish we had cell phones smaller than toasters and more affordable than tuition in the early 90s..at least we had heavy metal to bang our heads to instead of Alltel release dates..oh ya and Amigas computers.

I called alltel the day before yesterday, and asked one of the sales people about the touch pro. his exact words were: "It'll be out in a couple weeks, maybe 2-3"

The same tech told me that internally, they aren't expecting the verizon merger to take place until late 2009. as far as procedural or network changes.

BTW: +1 alltel user waiting for touch pro. I'll be buying it without contract though, because I'm not getting roped into a verizon contract or their notoriously crippled phones (they had an old v710 bluetooth crippled so badly, I couldn't transfer files with friends, couldn't even sync via bluetooth to my own computer. I was thrilled it worked with a headset.. thats how crippled it was) I love alltel, but dispise verizon. I'll be contract free in december, and plan to stay that way.

Ive learned not to trust Alltel Salespeople on phone releases..I talked to 2 corperate offices and 3 agent offices about the diamond 4 days before its release, they all said it would be a long while..etc. or they never heard of it, one new they had gotten accesories but thought it was 3 weeks still...I told them all it was the 30th and finally convinced one to hold it when they came in on the 30th for me since I was in a non-alltel area and if i was wrong I'd give him a gift cert...He laughed when he called me and told me he had mine...I trust folks like w0rdie and others with inside info more...the sales guys are normally last to know unless they follow forums like this.

Well I am another Alltel user with the Diamond and have been awaiting the TP. I manage our corporate Alltel account and I tell you what i think all sales reps are useless! i asked my sales rep 1 week before the ad showed up on their site and she knew nothing about it.

Here is what I think will happen the will post an ad on their site saying coming soon on the 13th and then one week later it will be released. They always follow the same protocol......most of the time:)

Not much to talk about, but they did update the phone image on the HTC product page in place of the old Sprint one. The Buy Now link still goes to Sprint though. I have to say I'm not thrilled about the look of the phone.
