OK, got a question for everyone. I recently purchased the 6800 back on 10/25 and now want to upgrade to the TP. So, that give me to the 24th to be within my 30 day exchange. But, what happens if the TP doesn't come out by then ?? Can I completely cancel my service/contract (I can get a loaner cell phone from work) and then resign up when it is released ??

I really don't think they'll wait that long though. It just wouldn't make sense!

So I officially revoke my jinx- It'll come no later than the 20th if not on the 13th. :D

By the way, I don't have a yard. I'm in a dorm. :D

OMG i miss my dorm days...live it and embrace it..man i wish we had cell phones smaller than toasters and more affordable than tuition in the early 90s..at least we had heavy metal to bang our heads to instead of Alltel release dates..oh ya and Amigas computers.

I called alltel the day before yesterday, and asked one of the sales people about the touch pro. his exact words were: "It'll be out in a couple weeks, maybe 2-3"

The same tech told me that internally, they aren't expecting the verizon merger to take place until late 2009. as far as procedural or network changes.

BTW: +1 alltel user waiting for touch pro. I'll be buying it without contract though, because I'm not getting roped into a verizon contract or their notoriously crippled phones (they had an old v710 bluetooth crippled so badly, I couldn't transfer files with friends, couldn't even sync via bluetooth to my own computer. I was thrilled it worked with a headset.. thats how crippled it was) I love alltel, but dispise verizon. I'll be contract free in december, and plan to stay that way.

Ive learned not to trust Alltel Salespeople on phone releases..I talked to 2 corperate offices and 3 agent offices about the diamond 4 days before its release, they all said it would be a long while..etc. or they never heard of it, one new they had gotten accesories but thought it was 3 weeks still...I told them all it was the 30th and finally convinced one to hold it when they came in on the 30th for me since I was in a non-alltel area and if i was wrong I'd give him a gift cert...He laughed when he called me and told me he had mine...I trust folks like w0rdie and others with inside info more...the sales guys are normally last to know unless they follow forums like this.

Well I am another Alltel user with the Diamond and have been awaiting the TP. I manage our corporate Alltel account and I tell you what i think all sales reps are useless! i asked my sales rep 1 week before the ad showed up on their site and she knew nothing about it.

Here is what I think will happen the will post an ad on their site saying coming soon on the 13th and then one week later it will be released. They always follow the same protocol......most of the time:)

Not much to talk about, but they did update the phone image on the HTC product page in place of the old Sprint one. The Buy Now link still goes to Sprint though. I have to say I'm not thrilled about the look of the phone.
