Re: Any VPN software for the pro?

Depends on how your IT dept has it setup. For example, I use Cisco VPN on my work laptop to work from home sometimes. I am unable to use the built in VPN client in WinMo because they have it setup that way. I asked one of the network admins how i might go about it, and they told me I may be able to tunnel it through my Router...but that may not work either. He did saiy I would have to have a hardware VPN.

This was all in a quick conversation out at the smoke area, so he told me to get with him later, and I still have yet to do that. I will report back here with any info I find out.

This will work if you have a PPTP or IPSec/L2TP connection.

Cisco can use other methods of security in and above this with their client software for vpn connectivity.

I'm have never searched for a WinMo cisco type client, but I'm betting there is one out there....

Re: Any VPN software for the pro?

There's a Cisco compatible client called AnthaVPN.

Unfortunately, it's about $60.

Most real IT departments would have a problem doing this. There's huge security risk involved in opening that to the world.

Not to get off topic, but yeah he is right. Anyone that knows anything about network security would tell you that is not a good idea, esp. with the default port of 5900.

Re: Any VPN software for the pro?

I'm using the Netmotion Wireless VPN client on my Pro & it works great. It requires a Netmotion VPN server on the back end though.

Re: Any VPN software for the pro?

Cisco does support the AnyConnect VPN for mobile devices according to their VPN compatibility reference guide “SSL VPN Clientless - You can access Clientless SSL VPN from your Pocket PC or other certified personal digital assistant (PDA). Neither the ASA administrator nor the Clientless SSL VPN user need do anything special to use Clientless SSL VPN with a certified mobile device.” http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/secu...y.html#wp75636

While they list that you do not need to do anything special to use the Clientless SSL VPN it does have to be setup on the firewall device to work. This is something I will be trying after the first of the year.
