Re: Lets talk about this radio ....

Well, the BT chip uses matching network to couple the antenna to actual chip. If HTC intended this portion to never be used they could easily not place the componets making up this network.

RSSI is normally generated from the FM Demod at the audio demodulation stage so the lack of RSSI and the fact I cannot get the chip to lock to a station make me think either a software block or missing antenna network. Will be interesting....I'm definately hoping S/W.

A missing antenna network is a hardware issue?

Re: Lets talk about this radio ....

Yeah, it is a network of passive componets, resistors, capacitors, possibly inductors used to provide filtering, isolation, and impedance matching between the antenna and the RF circuitry of the chip.

ok I am starting a donation to playballhard@optonline.net fund. Donate only $1 dollar per memebr. Once funds are made to buy a htc touch pro, I will tear the phone down to the bare min and post as many pictures as we need to get to the bottom of this FM radio issue.

don't waste your money guys, its been said a million times before. that its most likely a spl issue. if the SPL gurus deem its not then we know its hardware.

no point in doing this tearing it down will tell you nothing its confirmed its the same BT Chipset. and if it were physically disconnected in the BT chipset it would be laser cut in the chipset die. so you wouldn't be able to tell the physical difference anyways. you'd just be ruing the warranty on a perfectly new and good TP.
if you were to dissemble find a brick. its much more practicle.

again i say it its the same damn hardware as the CDMA diamond. except the sd card slot is on the internal storage PCB header and it has a hardware keyboard.

you guys are beating the hoarse until its a bloody pulp. there is not much we can do but wait until some one who is more in the know about SPL looks into it. No2chem is already doing so on his free time as he is interested in getting this working.

No need to do that.. I already know a guy who is working on it... He is posting the pics up on his site in the next couple days.. He does tear downs for a lot of phones.. I asked if he could make sure to label it.. He said yes.. It's CDMA Sprint
