Cant select touchpal as default onscreen keyboard??
 

Im trying to set touchpal as my default keyboard, i select it from the keyboard list, then it remains my default until i soft reset, then back to the stock one. I thought I needed to use sipchange, so i used that as well, but i have the same problem, soft reset, and back to the stock it goes, I even went to input and touchpal is still selected as my default, but as i said before after a soft reset, u know the deal. How can i PERMANENTLY make touchpal my default onscreen keyboard?

i guess u didnt read all of my post lol, i have already been using sipchange and its not working, i installed it to the main memory but no luck wtf

annoying as hell aint it, im so used to the diamond that i prefer to use the onscreen keyboard alot for short quick text, my fingers are too damn big to press those little buttons, I need a MANS KEYBOARD lol

Ditto. Cant get it to come up as default. It's not so bad though since the screen is flushed, its easy to change it. I also noticed touchpal kinda is slow when openning and sometimes bogs down the speed of the phone.

is there anyway to remove the other stock keyboards so that is the only option? i dont really need those anyways

change the 10 to 30 under options

Same here, Sipchange wont work.

Go to options and slide left or right until you see an option for "Disable advanced animations". Check that and it drastically reduces the amount of time needed to load Touchpal

SIPchange doesn't work for me either... I think there were some threads in the Diamond forum with an alternative that actually works though...

I really think this happens on only a small amount of diamonds and touch pro. I thought I had mine fixed when I saw the thread in the diamond section when someone said change the delay to 30 seconds. I tried that and it worked after one reset and then it went back to the default keyboard.

This is really driving me crazy. I love this phone but some of the sh!@t you have to deal with is ridiculous. I have tried 0, 10, 20, 30, seconds and nothing has worked. I hard reset and tried it again from scratch and nothing worked.

Anybody that can help please chime in. I don't know if it's an issue with the startup folder in windows because if you go to that folder and click sip change nothing comes up.

Pocket Tweak will allow you to select which keyboards are available to select.

Do NOT use Pocket Tweak to select the default keyboard. It caused my device not to boot into windows and I had to do a hard reset

good suggestion but really trying to get to the heart of the problem. why does this work for everyone else but a limited few cannot get it to work.

that only fixes it for one reset and then it goes back to the default keyboard. I have tried what you suggested a hundred times and it just does not work.

How did u guys even install touchpal on the TP? I tried installing Touchpal v3 and it wont even show up on the input list?

Does it show up in the Remove program list? If so, try uninstalling it and then reboot the phone. Then install it again. Then reboot.

Otherwise, I think you might have to use V3.5. But you need to unintall any previous version then reboot. Same procedure I stated above.

When you go into the settings, what do you have for boot delay? You could try increasing it or a hard reset. Cuz that's the same exact cab I installed on my phone and it works. Never had an issue.

boot delay is set at 10 seconds but other members stte they have tried 10,20, and even 30 secs but nothing has worked, what is yours set to?

I have tried all these suggestions. I am going to have to get my third touch pro in a couple of days due to more issues with this new one. Including this new issue with sip change.

i really miss my touchpal as well :(. i love the keyboard but sometimes for a quick text touchpal did the job. hope somebody can find a workaround this issue

I can't imagine why this would only happen on a few tp because we should all have the exact same rom and software. I have hard reset numerous times and still nothing.

does anyone know of a registry key that could fix this problem. I don't know if sip change is the only option in making the keyboard stick. Anyone that can help please do.

Change the inital delay to 40 seconds in SIPChange and you guys should be good after that. Works great for me.

just tried that and did a few resets and it still keeps going to the small standard windows keyboard. I know there has to be a registry setting for this. There has to be another way. My phone is not that bad and the back cover and this sip change thing are my bigest problems right now.

I tried it and it doesnt even show up as an option. I installed touchpal, it tells me to soft reset. After soft reset, i check my sips and its not there. I go to remove programs and its not even listed. I try to reinstall and its the same thing all over again.

Make sure you get the right cab as there are two different versions (one for WM 6 & one for WM 6.1). I had the exact same thing happen to me when I had the Touch.

What I did to get this to work is I took the new sip change that was posted in this thread and then I went to cootek.com to get the 6.1 touchpal file and updated sip change to 40 seconds and it worked. thank god. I have done numerous resets and it still works. Thanks to everyone that has helped. I'll hit thank you to the ones with valuable info.

Are you guys only having this problem after a soft reset? Or everytime you use Touch Pal, and then close it and it goes back to the default?

it was both for me. but buy getting the updated file and the new sip and changing the initial start to 40 took care of it. Doesn't matter what I do it works. I can change it to anything and restart and it will still go back to touchpal. Really annoying problem finally fixed.

Mine has only occurred randomly. Most of the time Touchpal sticks, but sometimes it'll revert back to the stock keyboard.
