I've not had this problem but QIK does seem to make my TP very sluggish and hot, or maybe it's just the video camera. Half the time I'll have to do a soft reset because things become so bad that it's unusable.

I haven't tried livecast so I'll see how it compares. QIK has some nice functionality on the viewer side as well - in addition to inviting people to your QIK group in order to view your videos on QIK.com (or you can just make your open and provide an easy link), you can also provide access to a private stream through your Facebook profile if you have one.

The quality is generally pretty poor, I've found, but maybe this is a problem in my camera settings? Basically I find that the video is pretty laggy, so you get someone talking but the video is constantly trying to "catch up" to the audio...

FYI: I use OctroTalk for GoogleTalk and also installed OctroVideo to try to get video conferencing. It doesn't work through GoogleTalk's new video support though, only for other people also using OcrtoTalk on a Desktop or Mobile (no one I know). However, OctroVideo does allow streaming to a website which is exactly what you guys are looking for. I have only used it for a few min, but it seemed to work very, very well.

On first run of OctroVideo you enter the user/pass you signup with.
After that you just run it and it starts streaming 240x320/15FPS.
Just tell someone to go to that same signup page and enter your username at the top and they can see your live video stream.

Seems to work very well. OctroTalk is also the best GTalk IM I have found allowing GTalk VoIP and file-sharing too.

Does QIK only work through their application or will it allow me to use my phone as a webcam that will work with other apps? I still have not found a good app that will basically turn my phone into a USB webcam that i can use with lets say MSN chat or something.

i think your missing the point of the app... say you, sign into msn and u wanna show people...they load YOUR qik.com/whateverunameishere page, u turn on the app, and they view u live...

its actually pretty neat..i just decided u try this today and its not bad all.. i was suprised i didnt even need to use a usb either... it just woked when i turned it on and had my page loaded in front of me on my laptop.. i connected through wifi to see if there was a differnce.. once i did that the most LIVE i could get it was about 2 and a half sec delay(even though it didnt display the delay time, which it normally does)...

its does have a 420mb storage it says... thats easily 45min or so of continuous if u needed it.. the sound also worked great my friend on the other end said.. she was just watching the page and we were chatiin on yahoo..well she was textin, i was just talkin while rollin a few lol... However i had to turn my volume down on laptop cuz it made a Looping echo over and over even though the video stayed streaming...

also, i dont recommend doin anythin at the same time this is runnin..i gotta text message and it screwed it up... it put it back in portait, gave me a quarter size of the screen, audio went out, and i couldnt exit the app, had to soft reset...so just use it after peak hrs of catching up with folks lol...

all in all i still give it an A+, it was fast as hell to set up, and worked right away with no issues...till the texts lol..

I have been using WebCamera Plus on my HTC (sprint) Touch Pro now for a couple of weeks. It works well in the "basic" mode (camera selected as source) but on the Camera+ mode, I can get it to bring up a nice picuture, but cannot get the application on my computer to connect with it. With the regular Camera setting, it connects no problem through ActiveSync and using the Wireless Lan feature to connect through my router to my computer and the program.

However the bacic "Camera" setting only broadcasts at 320x240 and I know our phones are capable of a much better picture and FPS than we get with WebCamera Plus. It just seems the program needs "tweaked" to run with our phones.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Can anyone mod the program to work with our phones? Are there any new alternatives out there (I haven't found any but I thought I would ask).

Any way to just web cam from the phone itself, without a PC? I think it's rather lame that the US version of the phone disabled the video call functionality...

didnt u just read the 2 pages b4 hand? qik doesnt use your comp at all.. its an app on your phone, but its a 1 way stream, u cant see or hear them

theyll shut ya down, youd get a few seconds b4 they end ur feed and prob ban your IP... its a clean site, not some porn site... my daughter uses that u sick POS!!!!!!!... get a real job homie, or move to an xtube type site..
