anyway to make my Tp work always on 1X?

because of a techical problem with Sprint here in Puerto Rico and the TP and Diamonds I cant use my new TP yet. This issue is only affecting the phone on Evdo but on 1X it works good. Is there anyway I can edit my regestry so it stays on 1X all the time until they resolve this issue. thanx
