New App - Glight

I just found this. It is supposed to control the back light adjustment by using the light sensor. Here is the link:

Touch pro already does this. Set backlight to autoadjust in power properties =]

Yeah, but this program makes the light sensor adjustment customizable.

I tried it, and I'm not sure it works.

What's the point of the light sensor anyway other than quicker battery drain? It's nice to know that your phone is light aware, but I mean when it comes down to it readability is all around pretty good in any light setting, which is at least what I've noticed.

Re: New App - Glight

one thing that I have noticed is that my backlight (or maybe the power altogether) turns off after 30-40 seconds when using Garmin. i have my power settings to do this to save power but these are the settings that I have had along with my Touch and Diamond and do not remember that happening with this program specifically. Will this program help me set the backlight/power not to go off for Garmin specifically?

I used S2U2 with those phones so maybe that was what was preventing the light/power from being turned off using Garmin. I am not sure.

Sounds to me you have a more powerful 3rd party app controlling settings in the background? Phonealarm, phoneweaver? Also make sure that Garmin settings are enabled for always on.

A backlight level of, say, 2 or 3 is great for sitting around at home but is unreadable outside or in very bright environments. Likewise, 2 or 3 is too bright when in a movie theater or dark room.

The auto adjusting backlight is *awesome*.

Re: New App - Glight

Hm. I changed a setting, it crashed, and now it won't restart even if I uninstall and reset the phone.

Anyone know which registry settings it might change?

Re: New App - Glight

Ah, the author emailed me back and said that I need to delete the settings.xml file. It works now.

I also realized that it takes over for the built-in auto backlight, so you need to leave the auto-backlight off.
