Mine had it, I removed it. I see a small wear mark....

Removed mine as well and there was no signs of scufss or scratches either.

I never removed mine either. I don't see any problem when it's always on.

I now see a wear mark from sliding in the location the tape was.

I was wondering about that tape myself. I think its there to prevent physical scratches from the kb being slid back and forth. I was going to remove it the other day but then I saw that it was scuffed up a bit. So i figure I would leave it. And if I decide to sell it down the road.. then I will remove it and it will look like new.

I think you're all nuts. 4 pages in this thread over who removed the packing tape? LOL

If it were meant to stay there, it wouldn't wrap up around the chrome trim. Look at all the photos of this phone, none of them have that peice of tape there.

If it truly bothers you so much, just remove it, then cut some scotch tape to size and replace it.
