My TP battery/charge issue
I tried searching for info on this, but all I could find was battery life stuff.
Anyway, my wife took her touch pro off the charger(wall) this morning and the phone was very warm. She turned it on on it said it was dead. All night and no charge. The first thing I thought was that something on it was running. Yet, I saw it last night and nothing was. I make sure she closes out everything. On a simi related note. when we first got the phone, it would make a data connection on its own once in a while. I thouoght it was because she was then leaving all programs running, not totally closing them out. Thanks for any insight. |

same thing happened to me. now my battery charges fine but it drains it like crazy. i powered it on at 8AM full charge (closed it entirely overnight), now it is 10AM and it is 30% gone. WTF? |
Re: My TP battery/charge issue
This is going to be one of the major issues with this device - which at this point I doubt any software change will fix. The battery gets too hot too fast and trips the thermal protection IN the battery, thereby causing charging to cease. Try leaving it plugged in on a long phone call... it will die. Streaming music/video etc... it will die. WmWiFiRouter - not a chance. Do any of the above with the back cover off and cold air blowing on the battery and it will go forever.
This seems like a major blunder on behalf of HTC. Its bad when I cant even rely on outlet power to use my phone the way it was intended to be used... |

Re: My TP battery/charge issue
Try a hard reset. Supposedly that helps.

Re: My TP battery/charge issue
This happened with my Mogul too.

Re: My TP battery/charge issue
4 hours after removing from the charger I have no bars left on my battery. It's been on my waist all day and I just took it out and it felt warm. Before I turned the screen on I knew something was wrong- it was hot as if I was just using it heavily for an hour. Somethings killing the battery but I have no idea what

Re: My TP battery/charge issue
I can't think of anything else other than something using the data connection.
Weather from manila, or.....instant messaging? |

Re: My TP battery/charge issue
Well, my data is always on because I use EAS (mail2web push mail) so I can't diagnose any of that, but I never use Express and close all of the apps I use except for outlook

Re: My TP battery/charge issue
Well, here is a update.
Picked up my wife's dead TP from her at work and brought it home. Plugged it into my TP's wall charger. I just took it off the charger. It's holding its 100% charge and is cool to the touch. i have no idea why it did what it did last night?????? This PDa has a mind of its own. |

My Touch Pro has pathetic battery life as well. I don't use any Push email or anything. On standby it loses 10% of it's power every 2 hours. Ridiculous! I have to charge it several times a day with minimal to no use. Either there are a lot of defective Touch Pro's or there needs to be a firmware update, pronto. I remember the Mogul having battery issues until a firmware update gave it amazingly long battery life. I'm hoping a firmware fix will work. I'm debating exchanging my Touch Pro for another, but I don't think a new one will have any better battery life. BTW, my Touch Pro is usually cool to the touch, and my battery drains really fast either way. I've also had situations where it doesn't charge. I think the temp sensor is way too sensitive or faulty, mine only gets warm with heavy use. My old Touch gets warmer and has never had charging cut off ever. -Ed |
Re: My TP battery/charge issue
I'm returning mine today, hopefully for an exchange if they have one left.
I've hard reset, and changed everything except outlook to manual update. Outlook i changed from pushed to 30 minutes which for me is on the verge of unacceptable. Yesterdays battery life: full charge at 3:30 25 minutes of sprint navigation 10 text messages 8 emails 5 phone calls (1 min, 3 min, 8 min, 1 min, 3min) DEAD POWER OFF at 7:40 I dont want to hear any bs about battery conditioning. Based on the above usage I would expect AT LEAST 10-12 hours of battery. Right now I have a portable multimedia device that requires a power teather to use and for me that is useless. |
