Grayed out LED notification options fix

1 Attachment(s)
Not sure how many of you noticed, but the option to flash LED on a new text message, email, voicemail and missed call is grayed out and disabled in the Sounds and Notifications Settings.
Here's a Fix:

If you have TF3DConfig 0.6.7 Installed:
1. drop the attached tweaks.xml file into Program Files/Diamond TF3D Config/
2. Open Diamond TF3D Config
3. Open the "Tweaks" Tab and check the bottom four options

If you do not have TF3DConfig 0.6.7 installed, you can change the following registry settings:

Text message LED:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D65B-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}\
AvailableOptions change from 11 to 0

Email LED
HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D65A-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}\
AvailableOptions change from 11 to 0

Voicemail LED
HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D661-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}\
AvailableOptions change from 11 to 0

Missed Call LED
HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D660-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}\
AvailableOptions change from 11 to 0

TF3D config is available here
A free registry editor is available here

For those having problems with TF3d Config not working, dropping in my XML file will make it work on the PRO

I've heard mentions of this config program causing problems for the version of TF3d that's on the Sprint Touch Pro. Has that been resolved? Anyone know?

Works fine for me, all I used it for was to change to the original HTC Black theme though. What kind of problems did it have?

Thanks. What about the "Repeat" Option being grayed out? Any fix for that? I'd rather not install PhoneAlarm right now (even though I love it so very much).

Same, I know when I get a text message the white light glows around the d-pad.

I don't miss the big green obnoxious LED from my previous Mogul, that's for sure.. =D>

I appreciate the info OP. I only wanted to change the registry value for the text message option. The LED light checkbox is no longer grayed out.

Sorry for the stupid question but which of the Regedit do I install for the Sprint Touch Pro? I tried the AS download but it did not install.

Is the LED meant to do anything by default? Mine doesn't do anything.

By default it flashes while the phone is charging.

My LED already flashes after notifications. Is it suppose to change colors or something?

Not sure what it does by default but this gives you the option to have it flash for a set period of time. I don't remember if it does anything by default or not.

Re: Grayed out LED notification options fix

After you install these reg edits, are you able to control the behavior of the notification, such as the notification time? Also is the only notification light at the D-pad or is there another one somewhere on the top area?

ruskiyab 10-30-2008 01:23 AM

Re: Grayed out LED notification options fix

Yes, you can control how long the light flashes for, and no, there's no LED n the top area, if you're talking about what's in the speaker hole, that's the light sensor

Re: Grayed out LED notification options fix

OK, I did the reg edits.
Still, after a bit, the notification stops blinking.
I have confirmed it does this for new email coming in through Direct Push from my Exchange Server. But have not confirmed it with any of the other reg-edits.

I 'really' need the device to KEEP blinking when I have new work email. I don't like checking it every 2 minutes, etc...
My job kinda requires me to stay on top of my emails, lol.

Any ideas anyone, any other info I can give that can help diagnose this?
Thanks!

Yes, I posted about this reg edit some time ago:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=38074

When people tried it, they discovered that "unlimited" does not work. The phone seems to blink for 30 minutes or so and stops regardless of a 60-minute or unlimited setting. I presume that this is due to some sort of "deep" sleep that turns off/override the LED settings. It helps, but it does not keep the LED on forever.

Ok, I followed these manual steps to complete each item listed above. I double checked that I edited it correctly. For me, The LED option is no longer grayed out, but the LED still flashes for everything, even tho the box is not checked for it to flash. Matter of fact, its weird cuz I never had to uncheck it after performing the edits, which leads me to believe that the box was never checked before I preformed the edits but even then the LED has been flashing all along since I got the phone.

Please help if you can. I dont know if it matters or not, but I used total commander to perform the edits and from what I can see, the editing itself worked - shows 0 instead of 11, but its just not working, if that makes any sense? I notice that at the part where I change the # from 11 to 0, theres a box that says Base with 2 circles next to it. One that says Decimal, and one that says Hex. Decimal is whats checked, would changing that help maybe?

Same here. I can now check the box to say "Flash Light" but nothing flashes.

Well mine is exactely the opposite. I UNchecked the box and it STILL flashes for EVERYTHING!! This is soooooo frustrating! Doesnt seem like anyones following this thread anymore either so looks like were stuck. I even PM's ruskiyab (the author of the original post who explained the edit) and have gotten no response almost a week later.

This may be a dumb question, but if the emails are that critical, why don't you have it vibrate/alert you instead of checking the LED?

My TP also flashes for everything even though I unchecked the "Flash light for" box for all 4 events.

Has anyone been able to crack this nut? It's a huge power drain throughout the day...

Re: Grayed out LED notification options fix

Without any changes, mine blinks for about the 5 minutes the grayed out setting displays - the box is by default unchecked, maybe it's a backwards flag? Checked flashes, unchecked doesn't?

I just want the 'repeat' for the sound ungrayed; my work's 'paging' system is actually text messages - and in the middle of the night - the first notification of the new message isn't enough to wake me up!

Well I also thought the device setting were possible backwards so I checked the all the boxes to make all 4 notifications flash and it didnt work. Mine flash no matter what. Its driving me nuts and there doesnt seem to be any solution in sight yet. I keep coming back to this thread hoping that someones figured it out, but still no.
