11pin extUSB Extension Cable

I have scoured the forums in attempts to find anything conclusive about this sort of cable. It seems like htc has plenty of accessories for their proprietary connector, but they all have only an inch or so between the plug and the dongle.

When I receive my tp, I'm looking to set up the 3 in 1 dongle in my car with my stereo/power without the main box in sight.

Has anyone seen an extUSB male/female cable or are they pretty much only home-brew so early in the game? I saw a similar thread on xda in regards to this, but the only extension cable found appeared to be a generic 5pin mini USB cable.

Thanks

Re: 11pin extUSB Extension Cable

Found this: http://www.oriongadgets.com/2750.html

Will work for me as I do not need too much length. I am coming out of the center console.

Re: 11pin extUSB Extension Cable

Do you have that cable yet? If so, any issues with it? I'm looking for the same thing...

Ahh... it's got an answer call button and mic built into the adapter... I'm thinking that would mess up call handling while the TP is plugged in if the adapter is buried in the dash.

Re: 11pin extUSB Extension Cable

apinkel - good point, I will have to check that when it arrives. I use a BT speakerphone in the car, so I will have to hope it overrides the mic on the cable.

Re: 11pin extUSB Extension Cable

Anybody ever get this working? I'm looking for something to get power and audio out of the extUSB with a single cable i.e. not have splitters hanging directly off the phone. It seems like the Orion cable posted upthread with the microphone and answer button might work if you could open the little box and bypass the mic and button.

Re: 11pin extUSB Extension Cable

Just saw this topic was back. On the upside, the bluetooth speakerphone worked even thought the cable has the mic built in so I had no problem taking calls. However, after using the cable for a week, I started noticing the phone was not seeing the cable and the screen started becoming unresponsive. USB port on the bottom then died. Not sure if the cable was cheap and it fried the port or whether it was a coincidence, but I did not use the cable after I got the replacement phone.

Re: 11pin extUSB Extension Cable

I ended up getting the orion cable, and it worked well for me aside from the fact that it picked up a lot of electrical noise from the engine through phone chargers i plugged into it.

Worked fine without power charging it though.

In the end i just bought myself a parrot kit and installed a bluetooth handsfree system with my stereos telephone function and oem mic. i use the cable now and then for music in the car.
