Newest .NET Framework?

I can't seem to find out what the latest .net Framework is that I can load on my Touch Pro. I went on Microsoft's site, and it looks like it's only 2.5, but I thought people were talking about 3.5...

Does anyone have a download link for the latest framework?

Re: Newest .NET Framework?

So the touch pro comes with 2.5 and not 3.5?

Re: Newest .NET Framework?

Yes, mine came with v.2.5. It prevented running Gyro2 on it initially.

Re: Newest .NET Framework?

Bump for an answer. My TP seems slower after I just upgraded to 3.5. What are the Pros and Cons of this? I thought it was supposed to make my Touch Pro faster.

Neither is the case. 3.5 simply provides a set of libraries required for certain binary applications that are compiled against 3.5 to run. If you're an embedded linux programmer, .NET CF is roughly equivalent to uClibC. There are different versions of uClibC, and the versions of libraries and thus available functions are different. Ergo, some apps are compiled (cross-compiled, actually) against different versions of .NET CF. It won't speed anything up. It also won't slow anything down. It doesn't replace 2.5, it supplements 2.5 (same happens on .NET on your PC.)

Reasons to install .NET 3.5 is if applications need it. If your phone seems slower, it's a placebo effect. Installing 3.5 won't affect your speed unless there's an application that's compiled against something needing a 3.5 library.

Humm. I read in another tread on XDA developers entitled something like "speed up your WM device" by installing .NET CF 3.5 . I did the registry hack that deactivated Version 2.0 and enabled Version 3.5.
Should I have left both versions enabled or would this cause a conflict because Version 3.5 also includes the stuff from version 2.0?
