Re: Tethering with WMWifiRouter .91

Ok, So I am having the GAYEST time with wm wifi router, and even just strait USB tethering.

Can some one please give me steps for doing this?

For Wifi router, I installed the ICS or whatever .cab, but when I run wifi router says it is waiting on ICS forever. So then it won't work.

When I tether it, I installed the "tethering" fix cab from Smartphonejunkie.com and then hit internet sharing, and it does nothing. Says it is identifying, yet on my phone it says it is connected....?

What am I doing wrong? I have looked through all the posts and just can't seem to put it together...Thanks everyone who helps!

Me too. Sprint TP stock rom running the "cleanup package" only (which changes ICS to "sprint" instead of "PAM".

Installed the FREE .91 version of WMWIFIRouter and my laptop was surfing online in less than two minutes. No further tinkering needed, it just worked. Not sure why everyone else is having problems.

I just sighned up for the 21 day trial and WMWifiRouter is working great. Wireless, USB etc.
My connection says SPRINT and once you set it up initially, it is plug and play.
I am using this app because my regular tethering via USB with my Diamond was working as Phone as Modem only, after working fine for over a month.

Not sure I understand you. .91 was developed and released as freeware. I downloaded it, installed it and am using it for its intended purpose. What part of freeware don't you understand?

Oh BTW - Go Sharks! ;)

I use version .81 on my TP and it works perfect. Unlike the newer versions you have to create your own adhoc wireless connection, but it isn't all too hard. I didn't need to use any tweaks or whatever.

I installed the Sprint cleanup tweaks cab before though. The only reason I use the .81 version is because my Mogul couldn't install .91 due to some issue with a setup.dll and this was the only version that didn't have a setup.dll. I never downloaded a newer version and it works with the TP so whatever. I used it on a busride from New York to Boston and it worked great.

Support should be given for v.91 regardless, especially since the license it was issued in was freeware. It doesn't matter if later versions were shareware. Also if someone asks how to work their paid GPS program, why should they need to prove ownership of the program for someone with some knowledge to provide help? As long as we're not provided knowledge to crack software.

What are the additional benefits of the 1.25 version? I have a Sprint Diamond with the stock ROM.

i think its just easier to setup since it automates the creation of the adhoc wifi network on your phone, but that's easy enough to set up on your own and to set it up with a WEP password. The newer versions I think lets you adjust the WEP password in the actual program.

Functionality-wise the pre-shareware versions work more or less the same as the later ones.

Re: Tethering with WMWifiRouter .91

I found a CAB for the 1.25 version and downloaded it which overwrote the trial vaersion. I was using the CAB for a few hours then all of a sudden I could not access the internet even though the app said I was connected.
I tried Internet Sharing with Phone as Modem and that did not connect either:scratch:
I thought the cab was creating the problem so I deleted it and downloaded the trial version again. No luck so I reset the Diamond which I should have done in the first place. I was back in business.
I am still using the trial version of 1.25 because I don't want to have any problems.
The CAB did enter all of the parameters automatically. I didn't have to click to enter anything. The trial 1.25 does everything for you but the CAB was even quicker.
With the trial version, you have to click on TRIAL but the CAB does not enter TRIAL. It enters some sort of registration so I assume the CAB bypasses the 21 day trial.
I would go back to the CAB but I figure the app is worth the $30.00.
The CAB is designated as v1.25 600 something.
I wanted to be specific with this info just in case someone else runs into the same issues I had.
I thought the WMWifiRouter had been compromised:(

I had that happen to me too. I install the trial and get online, it instantly says trial id invalid and demands a new key.
