apparently nothing on our device.

I think I'll have to break down finally buy ae. the mogul had enough buttons for what I needed, but not so with the pro. ;)
anyone notice issues when they remap the up/down? so far only screws with ae itself but annoying never the less.

I'm running nuerom217 so I map the long press pwr to backlight off, and the qwerty key maps are nice.
only thing missing is re-mapping the shift key to act as FN for the number row, then we could have real FN keys. I'm always trying to type @, #, & $ using the shift button like on my pc.

Cool! I took your idea and went an easier route.

When I am in the screen to edit the button in the "Run Application", in the box with Optional Parameter, I put

SMS Optional Parameter
-service "SMS"

Gmail Optional Parameter
-service "Gmail"

My current Setup

Items below all programmed with AEB

Enter/Action (Center D-Pad Button circle)
Single Click - Press Enter (Call Default Handler)
Double Click - Press Esc
Triple Click - Task manager
Long Press - Show Actions Menu

Green Phone Button - Send Key (bottom-left phone button)
Single Click - Press Green Button
Double Click - Messaging -service "SMS"
Triple Click - Messaging -Service "Gmail"
Long Press - Send Key (Hold) -Configured as Voice Dial from the control panel, where this key is already mapped

Red Phone Button -End Call Key (bottom-right phone button)
Single Click - Press Red Button
Double Click - Alt-Tab
Long Press - Mapped from Control Panel as "Vibrate", which came stock configurable in the control panel.

Volume Up Key (Side of phone)
Single Click - Ok/Close
Double Click - Start Menu
Long Press - Volume Up - To get volume up, I just simply press down then up, or hold it up.

I have not configured down as yet, because I do not know what other programs I want mapped.

Still not sure how you did the optional parameter. I understand how you typed in -service "???" in the optional parameter but how to you link -service "???" to execute the sms. I want it to execute outlook e-mail. Any help would be great. Thanks

Will AEButton (or anything else for that matter) allow me to map anything to the left and right popup menus? Those are the soft buttons that I really miss from my Apache. And I'm currently beta testing an app that doesn't yet support stylus input, so I need something that will allow me to get to the menus.

I dont know if I'm a retard or what but for the heck of me I cant get the long press to work. I have tried it on red phone button, (I get single, doub, trip to work without any problem) and it didnt work, then i figured maybe because the button is set to change from vibrate to ringer on long press it wont work. Then I tried it on the Green button (call) and didnt work either. I'm holding the button down for like 2 good seconds, I even enabled long keypress mode but nothing is working. im using the latest KK Rom.

What am i doing wrong?

Hello all. Haven't visited this thread in a while, but thought I would try to respond to a few of the questions that I know the answer to. If I didn't address your question, its probably something I don't know the answer to. Check out the XDA forums as they have all kinds of info on remapping keys and various utilities.

I beta tested a program called magikblite a while back (LINK) when I had a WM Treo. It worked on my old 6800 too, but I lost interest in it. Anyways, it has a function to remap keys, but I don't remember much more than that as its been a while. I believe I ran it with AEB without any major issues. You might check it out. I thought I read something over at XDA once about a key remapping app too, but you would have to search for that.

The Outlook email is like the "Gmail" option I listed. It's the name of your email account on the phone. I have an exchange server account and my email link is tmail.exe -service "ActiveSync"

I googled and found another example and this one is for Windows Live email.
"\Windows\tmail.exe" -service "Windows Live" -open "inbox"

Yes, AEB will allow you to map another button to either the left or right soft button. Download it and try it out. Unless they have changed something, the software will continue to run even if you choose not to register it. I think its 2 minor features that aren't available until you register.

Some keys can't be remapped correctly as there is a driver on the phone overriding it. The long press on the send and end buttons is an example as those 2 functions are handled out of the control panel. You might try the latest version of AEB and see if they have changed anything, but I don't think it will work. The only solution I could think of would be to cook a ROM without the long press functions/drivers for those 2 buttons.

set to "run application", select "Messaging" then put in the option (btw,"Gmail"= whatever your mail account is named)

yup it sure does, you need to add the home & back button in AE.

send key Hold is a default wm mappable button, so either change there, or have AE "unbind" that button in the list.
End Key hold is also in the OS but has it's own control panel, so the only place you can map that function is there. (settings\system\Long Press End Key)

oh yea, and I forgot to mention that the long press pwr button is a feature in nueRom217, but not kitchen oem yet that I know of.

Thank you very much, i knew i was doing everything right..... One more question.. I mapped a button to Camera, but each time the camera starts its in video mode and not still mode (it's not PHOTO mode), how do you modify this... This program solves the problems for not having nuff buttons to do things quickly without TF3D. The mogul has a button for everything.. But with this app its cool. I just got to get used to doing it.

the camera app will start with the mode that was on when last properly closed. (I would not recommend mapping to a directional button as that might be switching the mode immediately after launch. works fine for me, longpress Enter/Action (center)

Ok, one more question, others have mapped power button, but when you press the power button, the button code =0000 which isnt correct, what is the procedure to map this? The software is great, but you need to 'discover' how the heck to do stuff .. Or just ask in here..
