My brother has the Fuze, and I am trying to convince him to really USE his phone so that I can find out. He is NOT a power user.

Re: Petition?: We need to get HTC to fix this heat/charging issue!!

After not touching the phone for the first 2 hours after pulling it off the charger yesterday, when I lit the screen up it was already down to 80% On my way home from work, the batter was at 40% and I sent maybe 5 text messages throughout the day. I talked on the phone for 1hr and 16 mins and my battery was down to 10% and the warning message was showing up about charging it. After that phone call the back of the phone right under the camera was uncomfortably hot. Last night, I put the phone on the charger after that phone call, when I woke up this morning the phone wouldn't turn on until I soft reset it, and the phone had a 30% charge on it. It seems like it started charging, then overheated and locked up, leaving it with a 30% charge.

I just want to voice my concerns with the batteries in this phone. I hope someone gets this info to someone in Sprint that both can do something about it, and cares to. I want to register my complaint about battery life being nowhere NEAR the 4 or 5 hours it supposedly has. Something needs to be fixed with this phone to make it a viable PDA phone.

Re: Petition?: We need to get HTC to fix this heat/charging issue!!

OK guys after searching high and low through these forums for a hack or edit that might help our problems out a bit I found something that seems to work pretty decent. Here's a reg edit for those that want to improve battery life, basically you adjust your polling count...Here's how to do it...

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Battery]
"PollInterval"=dword:4E20
Change from Decimal to Hexadecimal...In decimal the value will be 20000, hexadecimal value is 4E20. I used PHM reg editor.

This works on custom ROMs as well since I tried it on mine today and it has dramatically improved my battery life (Manufacture date 10/19), I've been actively posting on this thread since I've experienced the same heat/no charging issues, now this will not solve those issues but it will at least prolong your battery life. Another tip: If you're going to make a long phone call, I'd suggest also switching off touchflo3d for that period as some have said that this increases battery life as well. This should serve as a quickfix until sprint/htc decide to sit up and take notice...

Re: Petition?: We need to get HTC to fix this heat/charging issue!!

Just to let you all know I have sent my concerns to the person at sprint that would/could handle this and they are working with HTC to get to the bottom of the issue. I have not heard back as of yet except they are doing a full on investigation.

James

Yes I know what we are talking about here, this was just something on the side to help with the battery overheating issue because the bars don't drop as quickly with that registry edit I found. That way if the charger stops charging the battery because its overheating at least you have 3 bars to get you through another 10 mins while the battery cools and then starts charging again...Does that make sense to you?

James, If additional data would help them, I would be glad to provide more of what I have gathered.

Is there a thermal tape or heat spreader that you can apply to the backside of the phone to cool it more efficiently?
