Flashing a Rom question

I have made a back up using Spb backup and have a copy on my SD card as well as my PC. I have also played around with ppckitchen and I am ready (almost) to flash my own cooked ROM. Just 1 question, at the moment.

When I backed up using Spb, I had it back up all the programs and everything. If I restore from it (to get my contacts back) will that also restore my programs (thus possibly causing conflicts and unexpected results) or will I be able to only restore contacts?
