Predictive Text on Sprint Touch Pro
Hello community, I was wondering if any of you guys were having your suggestive text working. For some reason in text messaging for example, my phone does not suggest the word I'm trying to write, it doesn't add the ' to something like don't it would leave it as dont, so I'm wondering if it is my phone or if any of you guys are having the same issue and found a fix. In settings>Personal Tab>input>Word Completion Tab, I have everything selected on and it still doesn't give me anything. I have tried hard resets and soft resets and still it doesn't work. Does any one have any idea how to fix this? All your help and feedback will be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Re: Predictive Text on Sprint Touch Pro
I believe you have to be under T9 for that to work.

Re: Predictive Text on Sprint Touch Pro
go to stat
rt settings input and options under the keyboard and t9 settings and there is a box to change it for abc mode as well |

But man is it kind of slow :disgust:. Anyone tweak this to make it perform smoother? |
Re: Predictive Text on Sprint Touch Pro
I bought the Touch Pro..love the phone, but the "suggest word" or word completion does not work. I'm not talking about T9 either, just regular word suggestions when typing. Pretty upset because I used this feature a lot on my Mogul, can anybody help or does anyone have a solution to this??

Re: Predictive Text on Sprint Touch Pro
same here -- when using the keyboard this is not working -- same thing with auto-correction . . .
|
Re: Predictive Text on Sprint Touch Pro
I have tried everything! That does not solve the problem, the link to xda-developers just explains how to activate T9! My problem is that the old word completion feature like I had on my Mogul is not working, but I do agree I believe it's because of that HTC full qwerty keyboard that comes pre-installed! I really want resolve this, if anyone can help??!

Re: Predictive Text on Sprint Touch Pro
Trust me..I have tried it all! Going to options, then T9 settings and checking off the "Word Completion in ABC mode" box. No matter what..if you're using the slide out keyboard, the full qwerty keyboard, or the regular keyboard it WILL NOT suggest any words. You know how on the mogul..you would type a word then a square little window would pop up to the right of it with 4 suggestions..this is what I'm talking about & it is not working. Really wanna straighten this out because it was extremely useful..way better than T9!! PLEASE HELP!!

Re: Predictive Text on Sprint Touch Pro
mine is working with the onscreen keyboard, but not the hardware keyboard -- they only thing i want to use it for is auto-correction -- things like capitalizing "I" and putting apostrophes in words like "can't" and "don't"

Re: Predictive Text on Sprint Touch Pro
My girlfriend was complaining about this today. I'm also looking for a fix to get suggestions/auto correct with the hardware keyboard.

Make the registry changes in this post:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...&postcount=214 It gives me the auto-correction and word suggestion like on older phones. This will also work with the hardware keyboard, but make sure you don't have "Cleartype on landscape mode" enabled or you won't be able to see the word suggestions. If you are using the new Touch keyboards, it seems you also have to go in and enable Spell/Word Completion and Auto-Substitution in their options too. Activate the keyboard, click on the little up arrow to bring up the settings, click on Touch Input Settings and check every item there (Spell Correction, Word Completion, Auto-Substitution) that you want to use. It also seems like you have to set the keyboard ABC/T9 switch to T9. This may mess up the Compact Qwerty keyboard -- all I can get now are numbers. But it does work the the Full Qwerty keyboard. In case you want to switch back to the original settings, here they are: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409] "Ime File"="\\windows\\eT9ime.dll" "Layout Text"="eT9 IME" "Keyboard Layout"="00000409" Anyway, here are the registry files for the original and new settings. You need to have a registry editor to import them. You may have to soft reset after making the changes. |
Re: Predictive Text on Sprint Touch Pro
ya..that totally did the trick! tweaking the registry. Wow, thank you lots!! my registry has this setting:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409] "Ime File"="\windows\compime.dll" “Keyboard Layout”=”00000409” "Layout Text"="COMP IME" & everything works like a charm now..really appreciate it!! |
Re: Predictive Text on Sprint Touch Pro
ohhhh..spoke to soon! Now I can't use the full qwerty (just numbers)! How annoying!!
|
Re: Predictive Text on Sprint Touch Pro
hmm, All I did to get T9 to work on the slide out keyboard was press the function key and then the space bar (which has T9 in green). Then switch the setting from ABC to T9 English and I was good to go.

Re: Predictive Text on Sprint Touch Pro
I'm good again! I took the "Keyboard Layout" string out and after I did a soft re-set I realized I had a problem so I tried to put it back. That didn't work so I just set the registry values the way they were originally, soft re-set, then ONLY modified the "Ime File" & the "Layout Text" and LEFT the "Keyboard Layout" THE WAY IT WAS. Now it's working perfect and I"m done!

Re: Predictive Text on Sprint Touch Pro
i find that the predictive text and auto-correction works well with the slide out keyboard but you have to select T9 onscreen first. it's nice to have the option
|
Re: Predictive Text on Sprint Touch Pro
This fix worked to get the old word completion back and I love it. However, now I cant use the soft keyboard. When trying to use any of the soft keyboards, you only have access to numbers, no letters. Anybody find a work around for that?

Re: Predictive Text on Sprint Touch Pro
yes, the new soft keyboard with the "phone pad" option is great. I can txt or WAS able to txt w/o using the hard keyboard. But now that i have the predictive text working like on the mogul which is awesome. I can no longer use the soft keyboard at all.

All I did was re-edit the registry and put the files back to their original settings and then did a soft reset. I then edited the files again and made the changes mentioned earlier in this thread and did another soft reset. When my phone came back up, I then had the best of both worlds. I can use the hardware kb for long texts, emails, etc. or I can use the software kb to quickly answer a text in portrait mode. I'm really not sure why it works after going back to the original settings and then modifying the registry again, but it does work the way I want it to. Here are a couple of screenshots of it in landscape mode, but with the software kb active and also in portrait mode with the software kb active. I also included the zip file for both the original settings and the modified settings. |

But does it work with the compact QWERTY keyboard? My compact qwerty will still only type numbers.

Ok I'm confused in your bolded steps. Which steps are you referring to? I tried doing the registry edits last night but I ran into the same issue you had earlier (with the soft keyboard only recognizing numbers). For now, I'm back to the original settings. |
Re: Predictive Text on Sprint Touch Pro
Just curious:
If I recall correctly, if a certain SIP was active, even if closed, it changed the predictive text. Could this still be an issue, or maybe some users issue? |

Once the phone booted back up, I edited the registry again with the modified settings: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409] "Ime File"="\\windows\\compime.dll" "Keyboard Layout"="00000409" "Layout Text"="COMP IME" After another soft reset, I tested it out on some texts and it worked perfectly. I can use the hard kb like usual, but it now has predictive text and the full function of the soft kb's was retained (including Compact QWERTY, Full QWERTY, etc.) I hope this helps. |

I barely use the hard kb, I am on the look out for a solution. It did work b4 w/o any tweaks...
|
Re: Predictive Text on Sprint Touch Pro
it seems you can either have the soft keyboard or the hard keyboard, not both.
