Re: Predictive Text on Sprint Touch Pro

This fix worked to get the old word completion back and I love it. However, now I cant use the soft keyboard. When trying to use any of the soft keyboards, you only have access to numbers, no letters. Anybody find a work around for that?

Same issue here. I really like the way this works, but I would like to be able to use the soft keyboard at times too. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

yes, the new soft keyboard with the "phone pad" option is great. I can txt or WAS able to txt w/o using the hard keyboard. But now that i have the predictive text working like on the mogul which is awesome. I can no longer use the soft keyboard at all.

Well I was able to get everything to work. With the hardware kb out, I get the little box with predictive text in it. It also adds the apostrophes and capitalizes the letters that need to be. I can also pull up the software kb in either landscape mode or portrait mode and it works correctly. The software kb now has full functionality, both text and numbers are usable.

All I did was re-edit the registry and put the files back to their original settings and then did a soft reset. I then edited the files again and made the changes mentioned earlier in this thread and did another soft reset. When my phone came back up, I then had the best of both worlds. I can use the hardware kb for long texts, emails, etc. or I can use the software kb to quickly answer a text in portrait mode.

I'm really not sure why it works after going back to the original settings and then modifying the registry again, but it does work the way I want it to.

Here are a couple of screenshots of it in landscape mode, but with the software kb active and also in portrait mode with the software kb active. I also included the zip file for both the original settings and the modified settings.

But does it work with the compact QWERTY keyboard? My compact qwerty will still only type numbers.

Ok I'm confused in your bolded steps. Which steps are you referring to? I tried doing the registry edits last night but I ran into the same issue you had earlier (with the soft keyboard only recognizing numbers). For now, I'm back to the original settings.

Just curious:
If I recall correctly, if a certain SIP was active, even if closed, it changed the predictive text. Could this still be an issue, or maybe some users issue?

Yes it works with the compact QWERTY kb. It performs as well as the stock soft kb, but you get the benefits of predictive text while using the hard kb.

I did the registry hack mentioned early on in this thread. That's when I noticed the problems with the soft kb. I went edited the registry back to it's original settings:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409]
"Ime File"="\\windows\\eT9ime.dll"
"Keyboard Layout"="00000409"
"Layout Text"="eT9 IME"

Then I performed a soft reset. Once the phone booted back up, I edited the registry again with the modified settings:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409]
"Ime File"="\\windows\\compime.dll"
"Keyboard Layout"="00000409"
"Layout Text"="COMP IME"

After another soft reset, I tested it out on some texts and it worked perfectly. I can use the hard kb like usual, but it now has predictive text and the full function of the soft kb's was retained (including Compact QWERTY, Full QWERTY, etc.)

I hope this helps.

Nope. No matter how many times i try this hack it still turns my Compact QWERTY into numbers only (meaning the letters are there but it will only type numbers) no matter how many times I try it and it removes the T9 option from the Hard Keyboard. I guess you can only have T9 predictive text or word suggestion, not both
