That's nothing special about the phone, aside from it being able to be used in mass storage mode. He just has a car stereo that will read music files from a usb mass storage device, he could just as easily plug in any usb hard drive, flash drive, etc.

Re: Sprint HTC Touch PRO...

For car audio, you could also use an adapter of the mini usb plug or you could do it via bluetooth. Both methods require that your stereo supports it. For the USB to audio adapter, your car would either need some sort of external input (aux input, tape adapter, FM modulator, etc).

Difference between what you described is this method would have the phone controlling the show whereas the other method would use the phone as a USB storage device.

To do the USB mode, the head unit (stereo) would require a USB input and you would need a mini to full USB plug adapter to make it work (i.e. included sync cable). I haven't seen any aftermarket solutions that plug into an existing headunit. You would need a headunit with the USB plug on it.

Like stroths said, they make radio decks with usb inputs built into them.

I've seen at best buy and circuit city.

There is no adapter. The usb input has to be built into the radio faceplate.
