He's wondering if it would be possible to add onboard flash memory to the Touch Pro since he suspects (maybe correctly) that they share the same or similar mainboards.

My suspicion, though, is that this is impossible for a variety of reasons. The one I'll highlight, though, is that they likely connected the Touch Pro's microSD slot to whatever contact points are used for flash memory in Diamond, making it an either/or scenario. I doubt they'd leave perfectly good an open potential connections unused on both models. Since one supports one and the other supports the other (and since the Verizon Diamond trades the 4GB onboard for the microSD), this is probably due to there being only one possible connection for "removable" memory.

The diamond has: 256MB ROM 288MB RAM (256 for app, 32mb for Video) and 4GB internal storage

The Pro has: 512MB ROM, 256MB RAM (dont know about video) and a Storage card expansion slot.

I was unaware Sprint had upgraded the Diamond over its GSM counterpart which has only 192MB of RAM. I had been under the impression that they HAD upgraded the ROM, though. My mistake.

You always could with Windows Mobile. The catch is that a lot of apps run quite poorly from it. The only programs I've ever installed to my SD card are the ones that required it (such as Sashimi). Otherwise I stick to internal memory. I've never installed enough programs to run out of space on my Mogul, and the Touch Pro has twice as much ROM.

Re: installing flash memory

I know what RAM and ROM stand for but how are the terms used when it comes to WM? I've been using Palm OS for quites sometime. Do programs I purchase typically get installed to ROM like a hard disk drive on a computer? Is RAM the temporary storage used to run programs? Is the additional flash memory or card simply additional storage space similar to ROM? Thanks.
