Re: why the touch pro???

I was wondering the same thing as the OP, but I have Altell's HTC Touch. My current phone is AMAZING!

I did like the Touch Pro (a little), but I'm thinking that I don't really know all that it can do. I've done a little bit of research on it, but I haven't seen anything that really stood out to me.

I'll stick around this thread too just to see if I hear anything amazing about the Touch Pro.

Re: why the touch pro???

A simple glance a the spec sheet should really answer all of this. 288MB of RAM versus 48MB of RAM. 640x480 screen versus 320x240. 528Mhz processor versus 400Mhz. 3.2MP camera versus 2.0. And that's just the start. There's a lot more, but the first three items in that list, alone, are more than enough for me to switch. Heck the first ONE is enough. The phone is clearly a major improvement in almost every way but one: less buttons. Some of my friends laughed at how many buttons the Mogul had, but I customized almost every one of them. The Touch Pro has less and I'll have to get used to that. Still, it's otherwise much better.

Re: why the touch pro???

For me everything about this phone is better in every way but the biggest thing is obviously the ram. Every single day, several times a day part of my daily ritual is memory management when I see my mogul starting to slow down. If I am doing one thing on the phone and then I need to quickly do something else it sometimes slows to a snails crawl, very frustrating at times.

No its not, its about the same thickness as the mogul but narrower and shorter than the mogul, which makes it look more like a brick but damnit its the sexiest brick I have ever seen

Exactly, this is the biggest upgrade. Sometimes my mogul gets so slow its unusable.

I cant count the times that i started up an app and got a waiting cursor for about 20 seconds, and even after that, the program runs slower than its supposed to. I remember i was trying to save a new contact to my phone one time and it was soo freaking slow that i had to restart the device, do you guys know how embarrassing that is? A lot of the times im trying to hide my phone rather than show it off because when some1 ask to use it, it sometimes locks up on them.

End story, i shouldnt have to restart my device just so it can perform like average... i cant even keep my mogul on without restart for 2 days straight, thats why i need this upgrade.

Re: why the touch pro???

I inititially was going to get a mogul off of ebay, but changed to the Touch becasue it looks like the Mogul is like an elite athlete with a heart condition. It can do great things, but can also sieze up at any momment, and you have to constantly monitor it to keep it performing.

Credit to the chefs here for finding ways to work around the mogul's inherant memory flaw- but the Touch Pro basically seems like a Mogul that has been fixed, and the mogul is more a flawed prototype. I would have gone for the Touch Pro, but I'm cheap- and will wait a year until I can get it for cheaper.

That's exactly how I felt when I had mine. I had it exchanged within the first month for another because it was doing all kinds of weird sh#t. The replacement was full of bugs as well, and it was TOO slow to be productive. I got it exchanged for the Touch and never looked back. The only thing I miss from the Mogul is the keyboard, and that's why I'm going to get the Touch Pro. Well that and everything else on the spec sheet is why I'm getting mine.

i know it has the accelerometer. but what else?

kinda like a "Titan Vs. Touch Pro" showdown.

i would never get the diamond cause i need a qwerty keyboard. dont wanna talk about diamond, just the touch pro.

Things I love about my mogul:
-Thin
-medium/large battery
-scroll wheel !
-screen centered on the device.
-mail and PIE buttons ( i use em all the time)
-gps and agps (as of a few days ago )
-did i say scroll wheel?
-already be hacked up real good
- external switch for wifi on/off
- All the external buttons.

things i dont like:
-kinda slow OS ( like the touch pro is really gonna be different)
-no 3d drivers (what was the last thing u needed these drivers for?)
-no multitouch support (neither does the touch pro)
you like your mogul because it's thin? the touch pro is the same thickness.
touch pro has gps
dont like the slow OS? adding 240 MB of RAM (600% increase) and 100 extra mhz processor WILL help with that.
Touch Pro has 3d drivers
Touch Pro supports multitouch in the area below the screen.

Touch Pro has a flush screen, 5-row keyboard, FM Radio, 4x resolution at 640x480, autofocus 3.2MP camera, TouchFlo3d, narrower, shorter, magnetic stylus that turns device on when removed, and it's super sleek looking.

I can't believe you're considering keeping your mogul.
