I couldn't agree with you more.

The iPhone is a "feature rich" phone for the technologically de-clined.
But check out all the "cool" stuff! When essentially it does the same thing old thing. Just with a pretty face on it.
Mirrors and smoke, just like you said.

While I can't say I agree. What I will say is that if it weren't for the iPhone
  • TouchFlo3D probably wouldn't exist
  • The idea of natively using gestures and more finger friendly UIs would still not be that developed
  • MS wouldn't be kicking its *** into high gear in creating a more user friendly, finger friendly OS (WM7)
  • Many Phones/PDAs that are coming out with sleeker and cooler designs probably wouldn't be coming out.
The list can go on, but we should be thanking Apple for pushing forward more competition and helping to force companies to make better, sleeker, more powerful, easier to use devices. Competition ftw I say.

Yes the iphone did give winmo a much needed wake up call but now what for the iphone I don't really see em doing anything "great" with there next iphone. My Opinion the iphone is just icandy (pun intended lol) a "cool factor" but kinda limited

Thats exactly how I see it.

It did give a much needed push towards user-friendliness, but it doesn't offer as many features as WinMo.

Yep. I have gotten into it with a few iphone users (no blood shed lol) but when I got thru all of the features I added on they get sick in the face. From the wifi router til the coreplayer but the real killer is when they be like ur phone don't have youtube and I break out the flash bundle hurts they heart. But I'm not an iphone basher by far just in my Opinion its limited to the Krayz features that can be made or added on my mogul and I can just think what them mad men over at xda will cook up when the touch pro drops!

I have to fully agree so far with this page. The iPhone has done a lot of good for non-iPhones by making people more aware, making developers care, and making people work on getting WinMo to be bearable!

I still have to think of people who blindly bought the iPhone because Apple's name was on it as iSheep. A friend of mine admitted to me that she would buy the iPhone no matter what price it came out as just because Apple made it and she loved her iPod and her Mac.... When I stumbled across the term iSheep on a forum I instantly thought of her.... A person who loves the iPhone and can be happy while admitting some of the shortcomings is fine by me. No phone is perfect.

iSheep, on the other hand, should be sheared.

I work for Sprint and will be going to the training of the Diamond coming out. I'll post when it comes out unless it may cost me my job.

Sweet. Look forward to any updates you can give (even though I don't plan on buying the Diamond for myself).

This website is saying 8/28/08 for the Diamond
http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/Spri...le-a_3052.html

I hope that means the Touch Pro would be end of September!

In my prior experience as a sprint employee/representative, by the time they decide to have employees take training classes whether through iConnect or in person the information is no longer proprietary and is public knowledge. I remember all the training I had to grow through for the 755p and 8830 blackberry which both were highly anticipated but information was not confidential, so if you lose your job for relaying information, I should have lost mine well before I quit. lol
