Can't delete/move files on Touch Pro

Long story short, my screen doesn't work. Phone comes on and I can hear sounds. I did a hard reset, still no avail. I'm looking at the screen using mymobiler. Its stuck at the alignment screen. I found another thread to write over the welcome.exe file with one that was provided to bypass the alignment, but when I try to write the file, I get "welcome could not be placed on the device. You do not have permission to create this item." I'm doing all this so I can get my contacts out by writing over with a backed up pim.vol file. Now all this could be avoided if I send someone my pim.vol file and they export it out of their touch pro and provide me a csv file.
