Re: Windows Mobile 6.5.5 Time bomb or activation fix!

what rom?

as far as i know the only current tp1 roms that has this issue are the nfsfan rom (1.04) and juicy 8 (removed from the site because of the time bomb issue).

there is a more recent nfsfan rom (1.05) that i am currently running that does not have this issue.

it may be worth it to upgrade to a more recent rom.

I am just not getting this whole "final release" thing am I? hahah

anyway I am glad it is working for you now

so you can try what they suggest. i would make note of this in his thread too, just so he knows about this issue. you look like the third or so person with the problem.

if you can not get it to work without the timebomb, you may need to switch to a new rom.

Wow, I didn't know it was such an isolated issue. Thanks for the great help, hamagc!

Any ideas what to do after it timebombs? I'm in the situation now and the phone won't come up in activesync to flash...

  1. Put your phone into bootloader mode. To do that, hold down the power button and volume down button. While holding them, soft-reset (if your phone is off, then hold both buttons while turning it on). Continue holding both buttons and in a few seconds you will see the multi-colored screen.
  2. The bootloader screen will say "Serial" at the bottom. Connect your USB cable to your computer. It will change to "USB". This doesn't connect to activesync so don't worry.
  3. Run the ROM Update Utility and flash a different ROM.

Yea, I flashed to Vetvito's ROM from Raidzero's rom last night. Despite assurances, the shell32.exe in that rom wasn't patched to avoid the beta expiration, and died on 4/30. If there's no attempt to fix the Baseline rom (I doubt there will be) someone lock that thread in the next week or so.

Well, I'm happy to report that Shwinn's patched shell did the trick! I'm thinking the notification reappeared because I made it snooze for a day prior to using the patch. When I hit "Dismiss" after the notification came up following the patch, I never saw it anymore, and my Touch Pro continues to work with Raidzero's ROM. Unfortunately, I see others in the Raidzero thread that didn't apply the patch and now they are dead in the water. Of course, the registry change for the notification may have fixed it as well. I made sure to try all suggestions to avoid this problem. Something worked!

I'm having the same problem, my Touch Pro has already locked up and displaying "this concludes the beta test of this software release..."

I'm running nfsfan's WM6.5.3 v1.04 TP ROM. Problem is I don't want to re-image with a newer ROM until I grab the txt msgs off this ROM, have some important ones in there that I need to keep. Anyone have ideas?
