Will Touch Pro work on Verizon without data plan?

I'm stuck in a Verizon contract and know I can get a Sprint Touch Pro to work on Verizon, but can't seem to find a straight answer about a data plan. Can I get this snuck onto Verizon without a data plan perhaps by changing the ESN to that of my current phone? Verizon XV6900 (HTC Touch)

NO. any smart phone activated on the VZN network after jan 1 2009 requires a data plan. no ifs, ands, or buts.

That's funny because I have 2 sprint Touch pro's added in the last 6 months without the plan.......

OP, use the ESN of a regular phone.

thats ILLEGAL, and we dont discuss it here. well, unless you want to get banned. let me repeat and correct my eariler statement. there is NO LEGAL way to activate a smartphone on VZN without a data plan.

OMG, downloading free ringtones of songs is illegal as well.

No one is discussing how to change an ESN or anything of that nature. If you have a problem with the question, report it and move on please.

At the end of the day you're just pissy because you have a gimped TP.

The verizon policy is for phones MANUFACTURED after a certain date, not activated after a certain date. I can use my apache all day long with no data plan. they will not activate my touch pro this way though. So if you use an ESN from a phone that was manufactured prior to this date, you will be fine.

as i stated in the other thread, you need to either change your attitude or the mods will change it for you. the only one pissy here if you. get over it or move on.

its not only about helping other people but its also about following the rules of the forum and keeping things legal here. do you really think i would have over 1100 post if i wasnt on here helping people?
