bluetooth help

ok ive searched for hours and cant find any thing that helps so please help me fix bluetooth connection problem....here is the breakdown touch pro with mighty rom 6.5, spb mobile shell, mskip pro pus, and yes i have htc bluetooth hotfix and htc bt bluetooth drive installed. so the problem i trying to figure out how to solve problem of motorola s9 coonection being dropped if i move headset farther than a few inches. if i hold them next to the phone the stay connected. so how do i check if it is a software issue or actual hardware issue? any help at all is greatly appreciated
