Re: Slow Syncing with WMDC
I'm having the same problem. Even worse when I try to sync music files though J River Media Center and the phone linked as a disk drive. There seems to be a significant communications lag. Thanks for any help.

Re: Slow Syncing with WMDC
The music problem is your storage card. If its not class 6 i think, itll be slow as hell over 4gb capacity.
I have/had no problem syncing with TP/TP2 and Win7 64 bit.

Re: Slow Syncing with WMDC
Is this the same PC with an upgraded OS?
If so, did you do an in place upgrade or a clean install? If not, I would uninstall and reinstall WMDC making sure to run the install as an Admin, making sure to reboot in between uninstall and reinstall.

It is the exact same PC just upgraded to Win 7, I did a clean install but I did use the Transfer Wizard to transfer some settings. I have uninstalled and reinstalled WMDC but not sure if I ran as admin...I'm still getting used to having to do that in Win7! So I will try and do it again...it sure wont hurt to try! Thanks for the suggestion! |

Re: Slow Syncing with WMDC
Hi All,
So hear is an update....the part of my problem where it was creating multiple instances of my recurring appointments, seems to be fixed....At basilrays suggestion I went into remove programs and uninstalled WMDC. But I noticed I had TWO instances of it...the first is named "Windows Mobile Device Center" and the second is "Windows Mobile Device Center Driver Update" Is this normal? Anyway I uninstalled BOTH and rebooted then I reinstalled WMDC and it created both of them again in the remove programs list.....My first sync took a while (Less then b4, but still WAY to long) and it seems to have cleared up all the multiple apointment instances! I disconnected my TP and reconnected and I just finished my second sync attempt and it took just under a half hour which is better then several hours, but is still rediculous! It also, within 1 minute immediately starts another sync...does it just keep syncing over and over? ActiveSync at least waited a while to start another sync! Please keep up with the suggestions, 30 minutes is still unaceptable! Thanks, Mike |

Re: Slow Syncing with WMDC
When you plug in your phone, do you see a notice from your system tray that says the device will function faster if you plug it into a USB 2.0 port?
It may be you still have a legacy 1.1 USB port. Also, take a look at this Microsoft Article. May or may not be helpful. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/821299 |

Re: Slow Syncing with WMDC
Hi basilray,
Unfortunately it can't be that simple...my usb ports are usb 2.0...and even if they were not, wouldn't it still be at least as fast as it was in XP? I read that article you linked to, I don't think that applies to me, as I am not, to my knowledge using an exchange server. Is the "Sync Center" in Control panel supposed to work in tandom with WMDC? Because when I am syncing with WMDC it shows the progress in the Sync Center. Thanks again for the suggestions, Mike |
