ok rebooted, installed commandcenter, rebooted again.

started up. went into gmaps, got location fix.

got out of gmaps, waited for gps icon to dissapear.

put phone to sleep. waited 2 minutes to confirm deepsleep was not working (had to tap the screen a couple of times to keep the backlight on).

ran dmesg via commandcenter.

lol apparently something is off cause commandcenter saved it with a date of 6/18/2042

I've done the editions to the gps.conf file with Bell's AGPS settings and I seem to still be getting long lock times (if it locks at all).

I'm not sure if 5-10 minute locks are standard but it's pretty unusable as it is.

Can anybody shed some light on this?

EDIT: Just went and stood outside for 5 minutes and GPSTest gave me 1 satellite. It seems to be getting worse.

Finally!! I solved this issue by inputting different Bell SUPL settings into the /system/etc/gps.conf file. Apparently Bell phones (or mine in particular) cannot get data from the XTRA GPS servers and the correct Bell SUPL server is necessary. The server and port I entered were from the registry in WinMo.

Host 216.198.139.92
Port 8889

I am now getting locks in 10 secs a la WinMo even indoors. YMMV.

I'm using the current package on a Sprint Touch Pro and GPS works fine.

GPS works fine on Sprint. Did you turn on GPS?

Wouldn't hurt. I can't say I've done a clean install but I'm using the files available in the first post here.

I've never had to turn it on in Windows.

Just turn it on in Android.

When you say it doesn't pick up locations, could you be more specific?

Do you see the antennae symbol in the status at the top? Does it have the pulsing signal indicator? Does the pulsing ever stop?

It should work out of the box with Sprint, but may take a while to lock.

If you want it to lock quicker, make the changes to gps.conf I described earlier.
