I tried the official ROM update, it killed my ability to dial a number without first having to pull out the keyboard and hit "enter" to initiate the call after keying in the number.
No big deal, I'll just re-upload another ROM. In the meantime I called the Advanced Tech support number given here and they couldn't even send me another Touch Pro. She said to go to the repair store.

This leads one to wonder what are the incentives for someone to lie on here about this.

I suppose just like a holy war all it takes is one person to make it seem 1.You are entitled to something 2. You can easily get it ....and then when you don't get it you become angry at the wrong person or entity...and then further justify in your mind why you hated in the first place.
Maybe there are those that think if enough TP's get used up then they'll have a better chance of getting the upgrade when they actually try themselves. There's crazies everywhere... :)

Surely there will be those that are honest, but I wonder what is the percentage vs those that are disgruntled against a company and along with those that are misled and those that just want something for free.

I'm not debating ethics here, but take a deep breath and think for yourselves. I belonged to the crowd of wanting something for free and feeling half-entitled because of some issues I shouldn't have needed to overcome. However, I do believe that we should at least be honest with each other here about how many people this is actually working for and how many it isn't. I personally don't think it's working for anyone, but let them come out of the woodwork now.

Like I said earlier, its works. I call the #in the first post,I told them about my problems with my TP, and requested to get a TP2 for a replacement. She said yes and told me it will be here in 2 to 3 days. She even sent me a conformation email. Just try it you will be surpirsed like I was.

i did this back in october, but not because i wanted an upgrade, i just wanted a working phone! this thread isn't new news, and i'm just busting the ops' chops because i remember what he said, be it rather trollish. but anyone who flashes the new rom from htcs' website will have a bad phone, and sprint knows this. that's why it was pulled for a while.

I agree with Dr. 8820. They call him the Dr. for a reason!

In all seriousness, the only problem I have with this is ethics. I agree with people doing this to upgrade their current phone. I know that the TP can be a bit buggy, especially with the stock ROM and I also know it has its flaws where the keyboard stops working after a little while as well as various other things. So like I said earlier, if your TP is having a problem, sure why not upgrade to the TP2. I 100% agree with this, I think the consumer should be happy about their purchased product. Everyone wants a working phone, no one wants it to freeze and all that stuff.

The main problem is that the OP has done this to sell the replacement phones for a profit. That's where it gets to be unethical. I know many customers have a love-hate relationship with Sprint, but the way I see it is that Sprint offers the customers these "perks" so we can be happy. I have not heard of Verizon or ATT doing these types of things. It feels like the OP is screwing Sprint when Sprint is only trying to help him by already providing a replacement.

thanks, this is all i'm saying. he was so against sprint doing this before(see his qoutes from the other page), now he's acting all brand new lol! like i said before, i remember but i'll keep quiet and let him get his hustle on. but he'll be back, as soon as sprint gets a new phone and he has to pay for it. he'll get back up on his soapbox telling us "if you can't afford it, don't scam for it"! what a joke!

Yeah you guys made some good points. The reason I did it was I wanted a free upgrade. I could of waited till Feb for the 150 dollar upgrade, but i wanted to save it for the HD2 or Supersonic. I know it is shady when you play the system, but i dont care, im gettim my tp2.

No no, I dont care if you are upgrading your TP to a TP2 for free. Like I said, everyone wants to have a functional phone. And I know that the TP has been buggy and has a lot of things wrong with it. Getting the upgrade from a TP to a TP2 ONE time is perfectly fine.

The only problem that we are having is that the OP is getting these free upgrades and then selling these "upgrades" therefore scamming Sprint when all they are trying to do is help the customers. I believe he said he does around 2 per month....which is ridiculous. And the fact that he was against anyone scamming Sprint not too long ago.

It makes me wonder what kind of details they use to figure on who gets the upgrades.

My steps...
I called the Advanced Tech support.
I gave the top 4 known problems with the Touch Pro.
I was told they would send me another one.
She spoke with the supervisor on getting me an upgrade. Was told that department doesn't have authority to do so.

If I knew, I would honestly tell you. I haven't tried it. Maybe try another rep, that is the best thing I can say.
