2nd Alltel Touch Pro acting like my first already-NEED HELP PLEASE!!
 

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Everything is original on the phone. I have not altered the phone at all. This is my 2nd Alltel phone in about 2 months. The 2nd phone is starting to act like the first one. Every 4-5 days the phone begins to act really sluggish and unresponsive. It stays this way for 3-4 hours even after multiple soft resets and taking the battery out numerous times. Then finally if I leave it alone for 30 minutes the TouchFLO 3D begins to work again. The TouchFLO 3D won't show up during the 30 minute wait. The rest of the phone works during this 30 minute window, but extremely slowly and sluggish. Are there any fixes for this behavior other than changing the stock ROM? I'm not comfortable flashing my phone. I'm not that tech. savvy. Any help/suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance.....

Try a hard reset. I hate the alltel touch pros. I have been through 4 of them and going onto my 5th. Also look into flashing, it is almost idiot proof. I did it lol.

Newbie question here.....will a hard reset wipe out all emails, text messages, favorites, etc. that I have on the phone now? also, how do i hard reset? Thanks for the help. If there's any other suggestions besides flashing a new ROM, that would be great.

Yes it will wipe all your data, all it will do is return your phone to the exact condition it was in when you got it.

Did you update the ROM on your phone? There is an updated ROM that corrects the symptoms you describe.

my phone is brand new (3 weeks old) from an Alltel store. Shouldn't it be loaded with the newer software or "bug" fix? I just want to make sure before I delete/reset my phone.

None of mine had the new ROM on them. They all came with the original ROM and I got mine last month.

Goto settings, system, device information

ROM Version 2.01.671.1 date 5/08/09 is the latest stock Alltel ROM.

Thanks. My phone came loaded with the updated ROM. :( I went by the Alltel store today. They are going to exchange my 2nd phone. I'm not sure to get a 3rd Touch Pro or just switch to a Blackberry Tour, Curve, HTC Snap, or Palm Treo Pro. Those are my options. I really love my Touch Pro when it works, but I'm just not sure I want to go through the sluggishness with another Touch Pro. I've realized that the phone only goes through the stalling, sluggish, freezing spurts in the afternoons. In the mornings it works great and in the evenings it works great. It just slows way down and doesn't launch TouchFLO 3D when I need it the most. Are there any other suggestions?

That's a tuff call. It's too bad Alltel isn't bringing in any Touch Pro class phones to replace the TP.

Is it just TF3D that you are not liking about your Pro?

How about giving SPB Mobile Shell at try. They have a trial period.

To disable TF3D, in the settings today, uncheck it from the list and it will stop loading.


Do you make sure to actually close the applications after you are done using them? Things like the Opera browser running in the back ground can make a phone sluggish.

yes, that's usually the first thing i check. i always close out programs. I love the TF3D when it works. To be honest, that's the main reason I wanted this phone. My phone just takes a 4 hour "nap" in the middle of the day usually. Both TP phones i've had has done this. I've decided I'm headed back to Alltel today for my 3rd Touch Pro in two months. If this one crashes, I'm done.
