Re: Best GPS Software for TP2

they give turn by turn directions with speech or text to speech... Bing and Googlemaps are OK for basics, but aren't in the same league for real navigation and 3D moving maps...

Re: Best GPS Software for TP2

It looks like Co-pilot doesn't support text to speech and voice command yet...but coming soon according to the site.

There's a slight lag for me. It tell me to exit when I'm already exiting or to turn when I'm already 20 feet away from my turn. I'll need to make some adjustments in the setting. Other than that I like it.

Re: Best GPS Software for TP2

CoPilot has some of the oldest most outdated maps I have ever seen.

I did have the newest CP installed, but didn't even bother reinstalling it after my last flash because of this.

There is a huge residential neighborhood near where I work. I'm not sure how long it's been there, but a guy I work with has lived there for 10 years. Not only is the entire neighborhood missing from CP, the roads leading to it show as dead ends. The roads have not been dead-ends in years (one of them has been repaved three times)

These streets/houses/yards etc show just fine in both Google Maps & GarminXT. I have already found two other examples of this in CP maps also. I would not trust this program to route me correctly at this point.

Re: Best GPS Software for TP2

I'm using Route 66. It's ok for most work, but I use Google Maps as a back up.

Agreed. I originally purchased CPL8 as soon as I received my TP2 from Verizon (the first day they were available). They were indicating TTS and Voice Control would soon be available back then. Also, (as you indicated) the maps and lag issues drove me back to iGo8 even when that program didn't support my screen resolution. Nor did I have TTS working at that time. Now that iGo8 works with the native resolution of the TP2 and TTS if fully functional, there is no way I would go back to CP. The new sale price would seem to indicate that many agree with me. Apparently, the publishers of CoPilot have to offer an incentive for people to buy their product. For $20, it may be a cheap introduction to true GPS Navigation software, but you will soon want a better solution.

Just my $0.02 YMMV

LOL, I think you're right.

I already had CoPilot 7, but I bought CP8 when I saw the $20 deal figuring at least the maps would be newer.

I swear it is using the exact same maps as CP7 & that was outdated years ago............

As far as I'm concerned, CP is OVERPRICED at $20 (I think it's completely worthless)

Interesting. My friend lives in a new built area in Elk Grove, CA and their exact street (camacha way) name doesn't come up but the surrounding streets do. Patti way (cross street), Stathos, Sheldon, Laguna, Bruceville, and a few other streets come up.

Can anyone with Iguidance, Tomtom, Igo8 look up this street?

Camacha Way, Elk Grove, CA.

iGo8 finds that street. Do all of the house numbers begin with "6"?
