Question Screen won't turn on for SMS

Hey everyone,

I have the AT&T version of the Touch Pro 2 with a stock ROM. I can't figure out how to get the screen to turn on when a sms comes in. I get a sound notification, but the screen stays off. I go to Settings--> Sounds & Notifications--> Notifications--> Messaging: New text message and the "Display message on screen" is checked. Is there something I am missing? The screen does turn on when I get an mms, though. It's weird.

Thanks

I'm confused..your Carrier is listed as Sprint...are you on At&T now? Anyway, try soft resetting your phone and see what happens. Otherwise I would try taking the phone in.

Re: Screen won't turn on for SMS

You need hd tweak. Its a setting to enable device wakeup on sms. Cdma phones do it automatically I believe, while Gsm phones stay sleep when you get an sms.

He never assumed he was stupid. He asked because the issue depends on whether he has Sprint or AT&T, so asking for clarification was necessary. CDMA devices wake up for SMS while GSM Devices don't need to.

I removed the posts in regards to your little dispute.

@OP - If you have a GSM device (AT&T), your phone may need the tweak posted above to wake up for SMS. If you have Sprint and your phone does NOT wake up for text messages, well, that's very VERY strange. Even now, that is impossible for CDMA WM devices.

Re: Screen won't turn on for SMS

Gees, I missed all the fun. Yes I have Sprint, but I was posting this message for my friend who's on AT&T and has the TP2. I'll try this HD Tweak and see how it goes. Thanks for the help!

Re: Screen won't turn on for SMS

Well if there is a tweak that enables wake-up on GSM, there must be a reg key or cab to do the opposite on CDMA right?

I HATE that m TP2 wakes up on SMS. The only way I have been able to remedy accidental button pressing was with S2U2, which I would prefer not to use.
