Enable Be Polite and Add Option to turn off/on in Sounds :)
 

Digging thru the registry I found something that was overlooked before, thanks to the new USC 6.5 rom, it stuck out like a sore thumb!!

Here is a cab that will give you the option to turn "Be Polite" on and off in the sounds settings from the manila tab.

Tested and working on MightyRom, Stock USC Rom, and Juicy Rom.

Should work for all Manila 2.1 Roms. -- Will NOT work on Stock Sprint.

Give it a shot. Be sure to soft-reset after install.

Hi .. It seems to have added it to the settings menu .. however does not seem to work :( does nothing for the ringer volume when picked up the phone .. could be of other hacks i have used to set the ring volume higher :/

Any suggestions ?

hmm, it works for me! It should add everything that is needed. Maybe its a CDMA thing? I see you are GSM?

Interesting that it actually works now... it's been enabled in roms(dutty HD Leo custom roms for the blackstone) before but it never actually worked. Good find!

I see the screenshot and it obviously states "Quiet ringtone on phone pickup"

1. Does this work using the accelerometer?
2. Do you know if it will work on the Sprint Stock ROM? (is that what you meant when you said, "should work for all Manilla 2.1 Roms" ?)

Yeah I imagine it uses the accelerometer.

Try it on the stock rom and let me know, the cab is uninstallable if it doesn't work.

The only problem I would see is if I have this in a pocket, and I am moving it would never ring very loudly because the phone is in motion.

Are you running manila 2.1 with the weather clock? What rom?

I don't claim that this will work with every rom, just a few i guess. Let me know what you are running so I know!

No problem... Gotta question for you thoug... How do you have single volume set on that screenshot and yet you are controling the rings and system volumes independently? If I set mine to single volume... they work in unison.

i see the option on build 21864, but even though i have it checked as one it doesn't seem to work. when i had a 23xxx build it had this option build in and it worked, so im guessing the build i have doesnt support it

EDIT: I have manila 2.1 (build 1920)

+1 same here energy photon already has built in. i turn it off. i find it pointless. it is so quiet. say your walking and it rings. its 1.4 volume to be polite. lol when in public. in crowds i need loud ringtone to here the call.

hmmm okay what about when the phone is in your pocket and it starts ringing but you're walking so the phone "moves" and the ringer goes down because it thinks you've noticed the phone ringing.

maybe it works in conjunction with the light sensor

lol well better start coming for me.. as i stated earlier its pre installed on energy's photon rom.... I just explained why i don't use it. so others did't find out what i did. it silences from any movement.

try a soft reset, that did the trick for me
