Microsoft Office Mobile 2010 Beta

Just thought I'd let you guys know- Office Mobile 2010 beta is out in Marketplace. Simply go to "What's New" and you can download it for free.

Haven't played around with it much but here's a short description from Marketplace:

"Microsoft Office Mobile 2010 brings the power Microsoft Office 2010 tools you use every day at work, home or school to the screen of your Windows phone with rich interfaces especially designed for small devices

Beta does end on April 5th of next year

Prior versions of Microsoft Office Mobile that were installed after the phone was purchased will be uninstalled.

If Microsoft Office Mobile came pre-installed on your phone, it will not be affected."

As far as I can tell, they added "SharePoint" to the suite- if anyone's familiar with it, it should come in handy. They also added "Powerpoint Companion", a remote way of controlling a Powerpoint presentation through your phone (handy feature they should've had since the beginning!)
"Better looking" icons and it seems that they've made Excel look more like it should be.
Scrolling in Word seems smoother as well (maybe its just a "oh its new" effect)

Re: Microsoft Office Mobile 2010 Beta

Is this only for 6.5?

I downloaded and installed marketplace and it doesn't show up in the What's New section. did a search for Office and only one listed was Office 6.1

Taken from Telenet blogs

We also announced that Microsoft Office Mobile 2010 beta is available now too, and you can download it through the Windows Mobile Marketplace for Windows Mobile 6.5 phones.

Re: Microsoft Office Mobile 2010 Beta

You know I work on Windows every day. I run exchange on the phone. Been using WM phones for like 5 years. And I use Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) very often. But I have yet to ever need an Office app on my phone.

I realize everyone has there own different needs.

But I'm curious how much other folks actually use it.

Actually it's pretty convenient for me. Since the TP2 is large w/ a full keyboard and all, I've found myself using it a lot more often. Just the other day I used MS Word Mobile to type up most of a lab report

I use excel regularly for repeated calculations I have to do for work. Word and pp have come in handy before.

Can anyone cab it up for those of us on 6.1? I'm curious if it will work.

Will that work on a non 6.5 phone? I have it on Mighty ROM already, but I could score some brownie points with my boss

I'm not sure if it will work. It is most likely designed for 6.5
