Stylus? I don't need no stinking stylus!
 

I occurred to me yesterday that I hardly ever need to use the stylus on my TP2. I think the only time I ever grab for it is when I am using PHM Reg Editor, which isn't that often. Otherwise I find that the large display, MS 3.5 and a large number of finger friendly apps means that the stylus sees little use.

What about you? How often do you grab your stylus...no, the one your TP2!

But yeah, I rarely use mine as it was intended with the phone. I have small fingers anyway and as a girl, my fingernails are my stylus!

The only reason I ever used my stylus was to poke someone in the gut with it. Does that count?

Hmm... i only use my stylus when i have alot of stuff to do (like playing games or installing a bunch of apps) otherwise.. i rarely take it out.

I can totally agree. PHM is my only reason for using my stylus. Or any other program that doesn't allow my big fingers to touch their little buttons!

I use my stylus when I have to remove the battery cover and put it back on...only cause it gets in the way though :)

Oh and to calibrate the screen!

I use it to reset the phone often and remove the memory card. If you haven't tried yet, try taking out the simcard with just your fingers. It's very difficult.

Just trying to make our style feel important again. We love you stylus.

PHM is pretty much the only time for me as well. Soft reset? Nope I use ShutXP, and besides, if youre pulling the back off, just pop out the battery lol. And my SIM hasnt left my phone soince I got it

I only use it for Solitaire and Total Commander (sometimes).

Oh yeah that too :) and hitting the reset button.



what about not for the phone? recently i used it to show my friend how the ipod touch screen wouldn't respond without heat lol does that count??

I use mine about 75% of the time. Find it to be more accurate.

I put my grocery list in notepad lol. Other than that pretty much just screen calibration.

Not really. On occassion things are a little hard to hit, its just the thought of a 4.3" inch screen that gets me a little tight in the pants :x Then throw in a full KB and yeah....hand me a napkin please

I have gorilla hands syndrome too, but I rarely use the stilus. I do have a hard time using file explorer with my fingers though.

Pull out the keyboard and use the arrow keys and enter button, works great.

I realize that, but I use it a lot in my truck & that is not really an option when the phone is in my car bracket hooked to my killer sound system......

I use the stylus with .NET VNC Viewer and occasionally with Total Commander. That's about it.

you guys obviously don't use 6.5.1 because those problems are gone. since going to 6.5.1 i only use my stylus for note pad (which is never) and soft reset.

I really want to run a custom ROM. I'm just not that comfortable doing it. I can do a hard reset and I can cab the hell out of the phone but... I'm not sure about moving to ROMs.

flashing a ROM is simple, it is really a LOT EASIER than the posts make it sound.

I was scared to death the first time I flashed one a few years ago & now I do it all the time.

I can generally read web pages at the default zoom setting, and after the Opera tweaks cab, I can also hit the links...the links are very small, however, and I find the stylus much more precise in those circumstances.

I lost my stylus while away from home for a week, (i had a replacement at home), but i did no miss the stylus the entire week, i still like to have it though but not use it much.

Flashing only takes a couple of minutes. It's re-installing everything that's the hard and time-consuming part for me.

You are not alone but in the minority apparently.

While I do not use notepad, I use my TP2 to regular taking meeting notes, and that requires the stylus. I purchased Calligrapher (i.e., more feature rich version of Transcriber from the company that wrote Transcriber). Mind you, the TP2 makes it much harder to effectively take notes. I need to play with the settings to see if I can turn off flow while writing. When I had WM6.1, it was virtually impossible to use for note taking. I can get Calligrapher to work on 6.5.

The only frustrating part about all this, is that the TP2 finally has a screen that larger enough to really use. The XV6800 was too small but it worked...

The funny part is that I purchased an Ipod Touch for my wife -- she was used to writing / taking notes on her PDA as well, which was much quicker than on-screen keyboards. She was pretty frustrated initially with the loss of the ability to write information rather than using a clunky, on-screen keyboard.
