If you have Sprint you can open up SIM Manager and transfer your contacts there. You can copy them back to your phone afterwards. However I believe it will not transfer addresses or notes. Just #'s.

Your best bet is PIM back up and if you need to back up more than just your PIM info then go with SPB or Sprite. I use SPB.

When switching over to a different ROM, only restore your Contacts, Email, SMS, and Documents. DO NOT restore Systems as it could cause your phone not to work correctly.

this is untrue, I have used that meathod and only that one for along time between different versions, from 6.0 to 6.1 to 6.5... I wont matter..

what do you do with the pim file after you've put it back under my device? does it go somewhere else or do i have to initiate it with a tool? thanks
