Re: sorry, noob question
I keep all my CABs in an "App" folder on my MicroSD card, sorted by name and version. If my phone breaks, or I flash a new ROM, I don't need to do anything on my PC. I can just open up file explorer, browse to the application I want, and install it at will
It's like my own local app store |

Re: sorry, noob question
Good point EGO, I also save my latest and greatest on my SD, Since it is 16 GBs, I don't worry about space so much. I just try to keep only the newer cabs and programs that I may really use on there though. Otherwise it can be a little annoying to sort through them all. I had a folder called cabs, then one called cabs1, then I just named it 1. That way it was first in the file explorer on the SD card. Easy to find and navigate. Anyhow, yeah they can be addicting to save them all, but it is not necessary to keep them for the program to run, once it has been installed. Which is what I believe you were essentially asking.

Re: sorry, noob question
I learned a few years ago to not only save the cabs (I have a folder named "cabs" on my 16 gig card), but to rename them so I know what they are six months later.
I remember a few times pulling my hair out searching for a favorite cab (searching this site, XDA, Google etc etc etc) to reinstall after a flash only to find I had it on my card the whole time but it was saved under some cryptic name it had downloaded as & I couldn't remember what it was........ ~John |
